\nIt is obvious by now that Mr. Lofton has no proof whatsoever that\nbiomass is “safe”. He does not have one statement by a medical\norganization, not one scholarly publication he can share with us that\nbacks up his claim. (Coincidentally, the same is true for other claims,\nas the event on January 13 will show.)\n
\nMembers of WACE (and others in the community) have tried to receive\nproof\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n
\nthat biomass is “safe” for months now, either via email, via\nphone, or via personal meetings, but to no avail. Why? Because\nconclusive evidence or scholarly proof that biomass is “safe” does not\nexist.\n\nInstead, if one carefully researches the issue of biomass incineration,\nyou will find plenty of publications that show that pollutants from\nbiomass incinerators (e.g. NOx, PM2.5, dioxin) bear significant health\nrisks.\n
\nWACE has already shared plenty of scholarly publications and statements\nby medical organizations with the Industrial Authority that clearly\nstate that biomass bears significant health risks. On December 6 we\nadded yet another statement by the American Lung Association to that\nlong list, which I am attaching to this email. (I am also attaching a\nshorter version of the “Myth vs. Fact” info sheet we handed out, since\nit compliments the letter by the ALA.)\n
\nIt is time for Mr. Lofton to finally admit that biomass is NOT “safe”\nfor our community … to finally stop the biomass project … and then\nfor all of us to work on a truly clean, safe, and prosperous future for\nValdosta and Lowndes County, and WACE will do what it can to help\naccomplish such a goal.\n
