<\/a>\nA local planning organization that studies advertises frequent meetings\nfor input and studies facebook usage data to see what people care about?\nThat’s the Valdosta-Lowndes Metropolitan Planning Organization (VLMPO),\nwhich holds frequent and repeated hearings on major projects.\nNext week it’s having its regular\n\nPolicy Committee Meeting<\/a>\n1:30PM to 4:30 PM, Tuesday 11 Jan 2010,\nat the SGRC office at 327 West Savannah Ave., Valdosta.\nYou can see what they’re up to\nabout traffic congestion, busses, trains, bicycles, Moody access, conservation, or other issues,\nand voice your concerns.\n\n\nThe Policy Committee is the Valdosta Mayor, the County Commission Chair (or their delegates),\nthe Valdosta city manager, the county manager, somebody from SGRC, GDOT, and a\nrotating member from the smaller municipalities, currently\nWayne Bullard, Mayor of Hahira.\n\nEarlier that same day, 10:30AM-noon is a\n\nTransportation Coordinating Committee<\/a> meeting;\nhm, that includes a “Bicycle\/Pedestrian Advocate” in addition to the usual\nenginers and such.\n \nUpdate:<\/b> Corey Hull pointed out I got the date wrong for this one, now fixed as below. -jsq\n \nVLMPO is an organization that\n\nadvertises its meetings in advance on facebook.<\/a>\nI’m not sure where that information is on VLMPO’s\n\nhome page<\/a>, but that has a link to its facebook page.\nVLPMO’s website publishes\n\nagendas and minutes,<\/a>\ncommittee \ndescriptions and memberships,<\/a>\nand other information, including a regular newsletter.\nCould this be an organization that practices transparency?\n \nAppended is the VLMPO Policy Committee’s agenda:\n \n-jsq\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A local planning organization that studies advertises frequent meetings for input and studies facebook usage data to see what people care about?
