\nHe’s on the board of \nHomeland Defense Corp.<\/a>,\nwhich does “Custom Automated Mosquito and Insect Misting Systems”\nand says this:\n

\nThomas B. Call graduated from the University of Georgia\nwith a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. After a career\nin the agricultural chemicals industry, Tom branched\nout into real estate. Lovell,\nfounder and principal of\nLovell Engineering Associates.<\/a>)\n

\nTom Call is a \nLeadership Lowndes 2000 Alumnus.<\/a>\n

\n\n<\/a>\nHis \nLinkedIn page<\/a> lists him as “Tallahassee, Florida Area Industry Real Estate”.\n\n<\/a>\nAccording to\nthe VDT back in 2006,<\/a>\nTom Call is involved with the\n\nGrove Pointe development on Old US 41 N<\/a>,\njust south and east of Valwood School.\n

\nCall was appointed to the VLCIA to replace Gary Minchew,\naccording to the\n\nminutes of the Valdosta City Council meeting of 11 Nov 2010:<\/a>\n

\n\nConsideration of an appointment to the Valdosta-Lowndes Co. Industrial Authority. <\/b>\n

\nMark Barber, Deputy City Manager of Administration, stated that the\nValdosta-Lowndes County Industrial Authority has a member, Gary Minchew,\nwhose term will expire on January 1, 2011. This appointment was advertised\naccording to the Boards, Commissions, Authorities, and Advisory Committees\nPolicy that was adopted by Mayor and Council. Mr. Minchew has expressed\nan interest in being reappointed to the Industrial Authority.\n

\nThe applicants for Council\u2019s consideration in no order of preference\nare as follows: (1) Thomas (Tom) B. Call, Jr. – Realtor, Coldwell\nBanker Premier Real Estate, (2) Kenneth E. Garren – Retired from the\nValdosta-Lowndes County Industrial Authority, (3) Gary Minchew – Real\nEstate Broker\/Developer, Gary Minchew Realty, (4) Jennifer Powell –\nChief Administrator, Fresh Beginnings, (5) Joe Prater – Retired from\nthe U. S. Air Force and College Dean, and (6) Carlos D. Hundley –\nCommunicable Disease Specialist, South Health District. This was Mr.\nHundley\u2019s second choice for a Board Appointment.\n

\nMayor Fretti asked for nominations. Councilman Carroll placed in\nconsideration the name of Jennifer Powell. Councilman Wright placed\nin consideration the name of Gary Minchew. Councilwoman White placed\nin consideration the name of Thomas B. Call, Jr. There being no other\nnominations, Mayor Fretti closed nominations.\n

\nJennifer Powell received one vote. Gary Minchew received one vote. Tom\nCall received two votes. Mayor Fretti stated that a majority would be\nneeded for an appointment and advised Council that the person who is\nappointed will need three votes. Since Tom Call has two votes his name\nwill be placed aside and Council will need to come up with another primary\ncandidate between Jennifer Powell and Gary Minchew. Mayor Fretti stated\nthat if there was a deadlock he would have to break the tie. Mayor Fretti\nasked for Councilman Carroll and Councilman Wright to vote again. Jennifer\nPowell received one vote. Gary Minchew received one vote. Mayor Fretti\nbroke the tie and voted for Jennifer Powell.\n

\nMayor Fretti asked for a vote between Jennifer Powell and Tom Call. Tom\nCall received three votes. Jennifer Powell received one vote. Tom Call\nwas appointed to serve a term of five years on the Valdosta-Lowndes\nCounty Industrial Authority.\n<\/blockquote>\n
