<\/a>\nThe first word is the key word in David Rodock’s VDT article today,\n<\/a>\nThe first word is the key word in David Rodock’s VDT article today,\n\nOpponents to proposed biomass plant speak out at meeting<\/a>:\n\nExperts from a variety of fields presented the health risks, pollution\nand water issues, and other concerns involved with the construction of a\nbiomass plant in Valdosta Thursday at the Wiregrass Activists for Clean\nEnergy (WACE) forum held Thursday evening.\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<\/a>\nThe Valdosta-Lowndes County Industrial Authority (VLCIA) has\nrepeatedly claimed to have a long list of experts on its side;\n\nBrad Lofton wants everyone to see him<\/a>\nread his laundry list of authorities and experts.\n“I will proudly share it with everyone,”<\/a>\nhe says.\nThe VDT points out that there are experts who are against the plant.\nExperts whom the VLCIA can’t even bring itself to name,\nonly allude to as\n\n“folks come into the community”.<\/a>\n

\nA large crowd attended the meeting about the new Biomass plant Thursday\nat the University Center at Valdosta State University.\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<\/a>\nVLCIA and\n\nChairman Paulk<\/a>\nhave claimed that only a tiny minority opposes the plant.\nThat crowd looks about the same size as\n\nthe crowd at the VLCIA’s own pro-biomass event on 6 Dec 2010,<\/a>\nat which\n\nmost of the questions were quite sceptical about the plant.<\/a>\nSeems to me more people turn out against the plant than for it.\n

<\/a>\nWCTV also filed \na video report<\/a>\nshowing Dr. William Sammons saying people should “damned scared”.\nHere are\n\nDr. Sammons’ slides from a previous event and video of him speaking.<\/a>\n
\nWCTV reporter Dontaye Carter even went to the plant site.\n“Despite what their opposition says,”\nthey also quote Brad Lofton as saying the plant will be clean and green.\n

<\/a>\nCrowds continue to turn out in opposition, and newspaper and TV coverage\nof them increases, but with\n\nChairman Paulk providing front page publicity for biomass opponents<\/a>,\nwhat can you expect?\n
