Ricketts, at the direction of the board, has since sent me a response,\nwhich will lead off tomorrow morning.\n<p>\nVLCIA seemed somewhat confused as to what their protocol is\nas to answering questions:\n\n<!--more-->\n<ul>\n<li>\nDo they do that at their meetings?\nThey did last time, and somewhat this time,\nand all of the County Commission, Valdosta City Council,\nHahira City Council, and Lake Park City Council answer\nquestions at their meetings.\n<li>\nDo they need more than 24 hours?\nThey said they did, then they said they&#8217;d already answered right there.\nOr some other amount of lead time?\n<li>\nHow should questions be submitted?\nI think they said by email or paper.\n<\/ul>\nSuch confusion is understandable,\nsince apparently they&#8217;re not used to getting questions from citizens.\nDoubtless they&#8217;ll sort this out over time.\n<p>\nAt least two things I think I&#8217;ve established:\n<ul>\n<li>\nYou must ask the board, not the staff,\nsince <a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/01\/the-answers-remain-the-same-brad-lofton.html\">staff ignored the two specific questions I asked Monday.<\/a>\n<li>\nYou must send your questions directly to the board,\nsince at least one of the same questions I&#8217;d asked before\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2010\/12\/whats-the-industrial-authoritys-plan.html\">in a letter to the editor of the VDT the day before\ntheir previous board meeting<\/a> and that didn&#8217;t even get\nany acknowledgement that they&#8217;d ever seen it.\n<\/ul>\nMaybe if more citizens show up and ask questions, that will help.\n<p>\nSeveral other citizens did at that meeting; more of those later,\nand eventually probably videos of the rest of that VLCIA\nboard meeting.\n<p>\n-jsq\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"After some some other things, I asked the VLCIA board (18 Jan 2011) about my previously submitted questions about house refitting for insulation and efficiency, and about rooftop solar, such as have been successful in Austin and Houston, Texas.
