Update 2024-10-17<\/strong>:\r\nPacket: ULDC text amendments, Loch Winn LTD rezoning, adoption of millage rates, USGS stream gauges, sprayfield expansion, watermain interconnection @ LCC 2024-10-14<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nAs Chairman Bill Slaughter said they would\r\n\r\nin the preceding Millage Public Hearing<\/a>,\r\nthey\r\nadopted the roll back \r\n\r\nmillage rate<\/a> of 7.356 rather than the advertized rate of 7.804. Last year (2023) the rate was 8.778.\r\n

\r\nThe\r\n\r\nFire District Millage Rate<\/a>\r\nis continuing at 2.5 mil. The commission plans to continue this rate for 5 years from the start date. \r\nThis is probably year 3, so apparently 2 more years.\r\n

\r\nThey actually did table the\r\n\r\n5.a. TXT-2024-03 ULDC Text Amendments<\/a>\r\nand the rezoning\r\n\r\n5.b. REZ-2024-15 Loch Laurel – Carroll Ulmer<\/a>\r\nso the Planning Commission could hear them at the October 28 meeting and then voted on at the November 12 Lowndes County Commission Regular Meeting.\r\n

\r\nThere was quite a bit of discussion between Commissioners and Lowndes County Manager Paige Dukes and Utilities Director Steve Stalvey about the\r\nSprayfield Expansion<\/a>.\r\n\r\n\r\nIt was difficult to understand what she was saying.\r\nI think it had to do with expanding the sprayfield does not preclude\r\ngoing to an actual wastewater treatment plant some time in the future.\r\n

\r\nThe Chairman added this item:\r\n\r\n7.c. North Lowndes UPS Battery Replacement<\/a>.\r\nWe learn in this agenda item that “north Lowndes” is the judicial\/administration building. The replacements have to do with end of life and the fire that happened this summer in the judicial\/administrative building.\r\nWhich turns out to be sole-source.\r\nIt is mysterious why\r\nstaff could not get this to Commissioners in time to do bids and have it on the agenda before the meeting.\r\n

\r\nThere will be an abbreviated County Commission meeting next week to catch up with some important items that were delayed due to Hurricane Helene,\r\nsaid County Manager Paige Dukes in her\r\n\r\nReports<\/a>.\r\n
