\r\nThe long-quorum-and-hurricane–delayed \r\nREZ-2024-15 Loch Winn LTD<\/a> rezoning will probably be decided Tuesday evening by the Lowndes County Commission.\r\nBefore that, it will be heard at the Work Session Monday morning 8:30 AM,\r\nalong with suprise ULDC text amendments, two millage rates, river gauges, sprayfield, and watermain interconnection between two northside subdivisions.\r\n

\r\nThe adoption of the\r\nregular<\/a> and\r\nFire District<\/a> millage rates will presumbably get presentations much like\r\nthe last Millage Public Hearing on September 19<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nWe get a one-paragraph summary of TXT-2024-03 ULDC Text Amendments<\/a>, but not the actual text.\r\n

\r\nWe would have seen the text in the GLPC packet, but back in June\r\n\r\nthe Greater Lowndes Planning Commission abdicated oversight of ULDC text amendments<\/a>.\r\nAnd in June, the Lowndes County Commission rubberstamped that abdication<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nThe agenda item says, “9\/2024 VDT Advertisements Published (Public Notice)”\r\nbut I can’t find that in\r\nGeorgiaPublicNotice.com<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nWhat is it the county planners and Commissioners do not want the public to see?\r\n

\r\nLowndes County is paying for the Skipper Bridge Gauge since Valdosta decided not to.\r\nWhich is ironic, since this gauge\r\nis the source of water levels for the\r\n\r\nUSGS Flood Inundation Mapper (FIM)<\/a>,\r\nfor the Withlacoochee River floodplain from Skipper Bridge to GA 133,\r\nwhich primarily benefits Valdosta.\r\n

\r\nWe have no board packet, because I didn’t anticipate they would reschedule the canceled meetings one week later and I didn’t file an open records request.\r\n

\r\nOf course, if the county simply put its board packets on its own website,\r\nas many counties smaller and larger in Georgia and Florida have been doing\r\nfor years,\r\nwe wouldn’t have to file such a request.\r\n
