\r\n\r\n \r\nHowever, the third and final Public Hearing on the Millage is\r\n\r\n5 PM Thursday<\/a>,\r\nSeptember 26, 2024.\r\n \r\nAccording to Lowndes County Chairman Bill Slaughter in the\r\nsecond Millage Public Hearing on\r\nSeptember 19<\/a>,\r\n“And then we will adopt the millage,\r\nsetting the rate, on September 26, as well.”\r\n \r\nHow that will work is mysterious, since no agenda is posted for the Millage Public Hearing.\r\nMaybe they will just vote after the Public Hearing, since presumably\r\na quorum of Commissioners will be in the room.\r\nOr they still have time to announce a Special Called Meeting\r\nat least 24 hours in advance, as state law requires.\r\n \r\n -jsq\r\n<\/p>\r\n Investigative reporting costs money, for open records requests, copying, web hosting, gasoline, and cameras, and with sufficient funds we can pay students to do further research.
