\nHeartland Institute, one of only two organizations to field a speaker\n\nfor\ncontinuing Plant Vogtle delays and cost overruns<\/a>\nat this week's GA PSC hearing,\nhas been dropped by every pharmaceutical company.\nWhen you're down to Heartland Institute and\n\nrenewable-energy-opposing<\/a>\nand\n\nastroturf-funding<\/a> super-lobby group ALEC,\nitself \nrapidly losing members<\/a> (so bad\neven Bank of America has dumped ALEC<\/a>);\nand when your public hearing speakers are 40 to 1 against continuing\nwith Southern Company and Georgia Power's nuclear boondoggle,\nmaybe it's time to end it.\n<\/p>\n

\nThe pharmaceutical giant Pfizer (PFE) has confirmed that it will no\nlonger support the Heartland Institute, a political advocacy group\nthat questions the science of climate change and tobacco smoking.\n\n<\/a>\nForecast the Facts, which is leading the\n\ncampaign calling on\ncorporations to drop Heartland,<\/a> was informed of the decision by\nPfizer's Corporate Secretary Matthew Lepore. Pfizer was a major\ndonor to Heartland, giving $45,000 in 2012 alone.\n<\/p>\n

\nPfizer's decision means that there are no longer any pharmaceutical\ncompanies known to support the Heartland Institute.\n<\/p>\n

\nPfizer's last contribution to Heartland was in 2012. Pfizer's\ndecision follows a groundswell of public outrage over the corporate\nsupport for the Heartland Institute's toxic behavior, including a\nbillboard campaign that equated believers in climate change with\nserial killers such as the Unabomber. Over 150,000 people have\nsigned petitions to corporate leaders to drop Heartland. Pfizer is\nthe 21st company to end its support for Joseph Bast's organization,\njoining its competitors Amgen (AMGN), Eli Lilly (LLY), Bayer\n(BAYRY), and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), as well as major companies like\nGeneral Motors (GM), State Farm, and PepsiCo (PEP).\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
