Update 2024-07-12<\/strong>:\r\nVideos: Ban passes 3:2 on Planning Commission reviewing ULDC changes @ LCC Regular 2024-07-09<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nThe County Planner had some slides at the Lowndes County Commission Work Session to explain\r\nthe ULDC text amendments TXT-2024-02<\/a>.\r\nHe did not explain why they were different from the version presented\r\nto the Planning Commission,\r\nnor why the Planning Commission should not review further ULDC changes.\r\n

\r\nHe said that instead, “Planning Commission, Homebuilders Association,\r\nstakeholders, Chamber, things like that, will be contacted as a courtesy,\r\nthrough just a standard email, and any potential sit-down meetings.”\r\nHe did not mention taxpayer or voters or county residents.\r\n

\r\nAs Gretchen noted, “Why should citizens be denied an opportunity to comment when builders and developers get special invitations to comment?”\r\n

\r\nThe County Planner’s only excuse for this change was,\r\n\r\n\r\n“This amendment just allows us to move forward with text amendments in a little more expeditious manner.”\r\n

\r\nWhy is there a big rush?\r\nSuch a rush that the people can’t see what’s going on?\r\n

\r\nThere was no discussion by Commissioners, not of that item nor of any other.\r\n

\r\nThere was no\r\nCounty Manager Report<\/a>.\r\nChairman Bill Slaughter said she was at a change of command for Moody Air Force Base.\r\n

\r\nThe whole meeting took six minutes.\r\n
