\r\nFor the 18th year,\r\n\r\nLowndes County won a Distinguished Budget Award<\/a> from\r\nthe Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).\r\nThat was the first item\r\nihis morning at the Lowndes County Commission Work Session.\r\n

\r\nThey vote this evening at 5:30 PM.\r\n

\r\nWe heard some clarification about the\r\n\r\nalmost $9 million dollars in jail additions<\/a>.\r\nGretchen says,\r\n“This is for the proposed new medical area at the jail.\r\nSome of the money is ARPA 2021 money.”\r\n

\r\nWith the\r\n\r\nchangeover from Code Red to RAVE Alert<\/a>,\r\neveryone will have to sign up again,\r\nbecause Code Red had an option not to share personal information, which included with the county.\r\nHowever, Ashley Tye said the new system would provide more functionality for less price.\r\nThat was the longest discussion in the meeting, at more than six minutes.\r\n

\r\nHurricane Idalia provided incentive to look for a faster way to do damage assessment.\r\nThe county is\r\n\r\nbuying Crisis Track damage assessment software<\/a>,\r\nwhich is a smartphone or table app for faster input to the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA).\r\nThat was the second longest discussion, at more than five minutes.\r\n

\r\nThey ended with an \r\n\r\nexecutive session to discuss client-attorney privilege for real estate acquisition<\/a>.\r\n
