Update 2024-03-09<\/strong>:\r\nULDC Text Amendment Status @ LCC 2024-03-26<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nYesterday morning at the Lowndes County Commission Work Session,\r\nthey went straight into the\r\n\r\nULDC Text Amendment<\/a>.\r\nThe changes County Planner J.D. Dillard discussed were not in the board packet.\r\nI have filed an open records request to get them.\r\nIt’s fine that they want to be business friendly for incoming businesses,\r\nas he said.\r\nA little more friendly to we the taxpayers and voters would also be good,\r\nfor example by publishing the board packet and proposed ULDC changes\r\non the county’s own website, lowndescounty.com.\r\n

\r\nThey could even put the proposed ULDC Text amendments on lowndescounty.com\r\nbefore they vote this evening at 5:30 PM.\r\n

\r\nWhile discussing\r\nminutes for approval<\/a>,\r\nChairman Bill Slaughter asked\r\nwhen the rezoning cases that were not decided two weeks ago due to\r\nthe meeting being cancelled due to Commissioner illness: when will those\r\nrezoning cases be heard?\r\nAnswer: March 12 there will be five rezoning cases.\r\nSo apparently the old ones plus the new ones from\r\n\r\nyesterday’s Planning Commission meeting<\/a>.\r\nCounty Manager Paige Dukes further clarified that they had to go back through the process of public announcements of the rezoning Public Hearings.\r\nThank you, Chairman, for asking that question.\r\n

\r\nThose were the two longest items, at 3 minutes and 30 seconds\r\nand one minute and 20 seconds, each.\r\nThe entire meeting took eleven minutes.\r\n

\r\nAbout\r\n6.e. Spring Creek Well Pilot Study<\/a>,\r\nGretchen noted, “I hope this money comes from the enterprise fund for water and sewer and not the general fund.”\r\n

\r\nAbout\r\n\r\n7.d. Golden Oaks Subdivision Force Main<\/a> she noted\r\n“$100,500 to service around 30 homes.\r\nAgain, I hope this is funded by the enterprise fund.\r\nPerhaps in the interest of transparency, the source of funds could be mentioned.”\r\n
