Update 2024-01-20<\/strong>:\r\nPacket: Appoint another Tax Assessor, Special Assessment Rate, VOCA, federal consultant @ LCC 2024-01-22<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nTwo weeks ago the Lowndes County Commission appointed three new Tax Assessors:\r\nGene Felts and Thomas Reed to 3-year terms and Sandra D.S.Jones to the 4-year term.\r\nGene Felts resigned two days later, after being sworn in but before his first Tax Assessors Meeting.\r\nThey still have 12 – 3 = 9 applicants to choose from.\r\nMaybe somebody should tell them they have to take substantial hours of training after being appointed.\r\n

\r\nWe the taxpayers and voters still haven’t seen\r\nthe applications, which were not in that board packet.\r\nAt least the appointees did show up at the meeting.\r\n

\r\nGretchen took these LAKE videos with her iPhone.\r\nThe LAKE camera is old and tired and refused to function.\r\nIf anyone wants to donate so we can get a new video camera, that would be wonderful.\r\n

\r\nThe added agenda item,\r\n\r\n6.f. 412-416 North Lee Street Purchase<\/a>,\r\nwas apparently the result of the Executive Session in the same morning’s Work Session.\r\n

\r\nThe Commissioners unanimously approved everything else with little discussion.\r\n

\r\nThere was a weather report by\r\n\r\nEMA Director Ashley Tye<\/a>.\r\n
