Update 2024-01-07<\/strong>:\r\nAppointing Tax Assessors is on the agenda for Monday, January 8, 2024<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nNot on the agenda at the last 2023 Regular Session of the Lowndes County Commission were two items.\r\n\r\nSpecial Presentation – Hurricane Recovery<\/a> was by two executives of the debris hauling company the county hired, plus Kristin Hannah of the Boys and Girls Club, which got a grant from the hauling company.\r\n

\r\nThe second was\r\n\r\nSpecial Recognition – Fire Department – Toys for Tots<\/a>.\r\nYou can see these presentations and the agenda items in these LAKE videos.\r\n

\r\nThey also added an agenda item,\r\n\r\n7.n. Utility and Access Easement for Lochwinn Farms<\/a>,\r\nfor a James Road Extension parallel to the railroad.\r\n

\r\nThey spent a bit more than a minute on\r\n\r\n7.l. Expanding Board of Tax Assessors<\/a>,\r\nabout the same on\r\n\r\n6.a. Valdosta-Lowndes County Conference Center and Tourism Authority<\/a>,\r\nand two minutes on\r\n\r\n6.b. Lowndes County Public Facilities Authority<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nThey will actually appoint three new Tax Assessors in their first 2024 meeting,\r\n\r\non January 8th<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nThey unanimously approved everything, taking\r\n\r\n no more than two minutes on each item.\r\nExcept the County Manager’s Report took three minutes.\r\nPlus there were two minutes of\r\n\r\nChairman Comments<\/a>, in which he praised the Commissioners for working together, “It’s amazing to watch people, that to some degree, personalities and interests can be, tremendously apart, but when it comes time to work and focus on an issue, everyone comes together and works together.”\r\n
