\r\nPeople might have come to see if they knew One Valdosta-Lowndes was going to present at Monday morning’s Lowndes County Commission Work Session.\r\nInstead,\r\n\r\nCounty Manager Paige Dukes announced it<\/a>\r\nduring her County Manager Report,\r\nand then\r\n\r\nOVL Executive Director Mary Beth Brownlee presented<\/a>.\r\nThanks to Mary Beth for sending LAKE her\r\npresentation slides<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nAt the end of the meeting, the Commissioners held\r\n\r\nan executive session to discuss personnel<\/a>.\r\nThere is only one personnel directly managed by the Commissioners:\r\nthe County Manager.\r\n

\r\nThe second longest item at 4 minutes was\r\n\r\n5. Fire Officer of the Year – Fire Fighter of the Year Recognition<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nNext longest at two and a third minutes was\r\n\r\n7.a. Lowndes County Accountability Court Grant Approval and Cash Match<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nEverything passed unanimously, including the adoption of the FY 2024 Operating Budget and the reappointments to three boards.\r\n

\r\nOnce the county finishes taking over its own permitting,\r\nthe\r\n\r\n6.c. Valdosta Lowndes County Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals<\/a>\r\nwon’t exist, and Lowndes County will have to appoint its own.\r\nThe new one could have the same county members.\r\n

\r\nWere you invited to the stakeholder meetings\r\n\r\nthe County Manager announced<\/a>\r\nfor “the development community”?\r\nMaybe taxpayers and citizens are not stakeholders.\r\n
