Update 2023-04-10<\/strong>: Packet: Raise waste collection rates, appointments to 3 boards, crop sprayer for wastewater hayfield @ LCC 2023-04-10<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nAs suggested by Commissioner Mark Wisenbaker yesterday,\r\nthe rezoning was tabled until the next Lowndes County Commission meeting:\r\n\r\n6.a. REZ-2022-10 The Campus Transitional Care Facility, 2193 Howell Road.<\/a>\r\nIt was tabled before the Public Hearing,\r\nso I would guess that means they have to send out notice again for a Public Hearing.\r\nThe motion to table was by Commissioner Wisenbaker, second by Commissioner Scottie Orenstein,\r\nand it passed unanimously by the four voting Commissioners present.\r\nCommissioner Clay Griner was not there, which was the purpose of tabling:\r\nwait until all five Commissioners are there.\r\n

\r\nInterestingly, most of the people who came for the Howell Road public hearing stayed to the end. They didn’t leave when the item was tabled. This was very unusual. \r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nThe\r\n\r\nLand Bank Authority appointment<\/a>\r\nwas also tabled until the first meeting in April, due to lack of nominations.\r\n

\r\nEverything else passed unanimously.\r\n

\r\nOn the waste collection franchises by\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nDeep South Sanitation<\/a>\r\nand\r\n\r\nAdvanced Disposal Services<\/a>,\r\nthe County Attorney said the Commissioners could approve the rate hikes and collection center time changes\r\nrequested by both franchisees, but they’d have to wait until the relevant ordinance and the franchise agreements were updated.\r\nAt this meeting, they voted to approve the franchises as currently written.\r\n

\r\nWhen the\r\nWindstream broadband project<\/a>\r\nwas first presented, there was a web-link that citizens could fill in saying they were interested. That link seems to be gone and now there is a phone number to call? There appears to be no information on the county web site (or if there is, it is well hidden).\r\n

\r\nOne citizen\r\n\r\nraised concerns of his subdivision about flooding<\/a>.\r\nHe said the nearby pond was in the county, although the subdivision is in the city.\r\nChairman Bill Slaughter turned that case over to Lowndes County Public Works Director Robin Cumbus.\r\n
