Update 2023-03-13<\/strong>:\r\nFirefighters grant, Madison Highway rezoning, Webster Street purchase, Wild Adventures expansion, Peterson Road Sewer Main Open Cut @ LCC Regular 2023-02-14<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nWild Adventures\r\n\r\nwants to make a 50 space short term RV park on their property<\/a>.\r\nTheir General Manager Jon Vigue<\/a> gave a slide presentation.\r\n

\r\nCommissioner Scottie Orenstien wanted to know did they own the land: yes.\r\nWould they connect to county water and sewer? yes.\r\nLowndes County Utilities Director affirmed that the county\r\nalready has the necessary infrastructure for them to connect to.\r\n

\r\nCommissioner Demarcus Marshall wanted to be sure\r\n\r\n the tax discount\r\ncame from the state, not from the county.\r\nIt’s apparently 2.8% over ten years.\r\nBoth the GM and County Chairman Bill Slaughter thought the net\r\nwould end up positive for the tax base.\r\n

\r\nCounty Manager Paige Dukes also talked it up from a tourism viewpoint.\r\n

\r\nThe Chairman wanted clarification on what\r\n\r\nopen cut means<\/a>.\r\nOpen cut means cut the road open, rather than bore under it.\r\nNobody will be cutting the water or sewer lines.\r\n

\r\nThe\r\n\r\nCounty Manager\r\ncalled on<\/a> Public Works (Robin Cumbus) and EMA (Ashley Tye) to give updates after the heavy rains.\r\nThere were some road problems and fallen trees, which she expected would be dealt with soon.\r\nThe county got 4-5 inches of rain according to the river gauges.\r\nMore rain may come Thursday.\r\nCurrently, the minor flood may have much of Langdale Park and some of the boat ramps underwater,\r\nbut most homes are not at risk.\r\n

\r\nThe Chairman joked that if the Chairman and Mayor’s Paddle<\/a>\r\nwere held now,\r\n“we’d be paddling through the treetops.”\r\n
