\r\nThe rezoning for a Dollar General is back on the agenda for the\r\nLowndes County Commission to review Monday morning and to decide Tuesday evening.\r\n

\r\nThey will also decide on\r\nreappointing Brad Folsom to the\r\nValdosta-Lowndes County Development Authority<\/a>.\r\ninterest rate for paving and utility assessments,\r\nauthorization for D.A. to accept federal VOCA grant funds.\r\nand the only thing listed as costing money: server blades replacing those at end of life.\r\n

\r\nReminding us\r\nwhat happens when the development camel gets its head under the agriculture and forestry tent,\r\nthere are two acceptances of subdivision infrastructure over on and near Val Del Road,\r\nsome of the numerous developments since the county ran water and sewer to Nelson Hill on Val Del.\r\n

\r\nMeanwhile, Dollar General does not seem to know where its stores are,\r\nand the lot layout it submitted is not binding,\r\nyet we should trust them to handle wetlands appropriately, just uphill of Poley Creek and the Withlacoochee River?\r\n\r\n\r\n

\r\nThe\r\nRezoning Plat\r\nshows “STATE ROUTE 122” going both east-west and north-south (instead of Skipper Bridge Road).\r\nAnd its title bar says\r\n“NORTHEAST INTERSECTION OF US HIGHWAY 19 AND HIGHWAY 202”.\r\nThat intersection is\r\nnorth of Thomasville<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nThe table of distances to existing Dollar Generals does not include the one in Ray City,\r\n8.5 road miles away,\r\ncloser than the ones listed on Bemiss Road and Old US 41 N.\r\n

\r\nThe Dollar General the table lists at 7920 Bemiss Road, which is the corner of New Bethel Road in Barretts,\r\ndoes not exist.\r\nMaybe they confused that address with\r\n7290 Bemiss Road at Walkers Crossing (GA 125 @ GA 122), which is 6.7 miles away,\r\ncloser than all of them except the one in Hahira.\r\n

\r\nThe Site Plan Aerial shows part of the parking lot and part of the store on wetlands.\r\n

\r\nBut apparently the site plan doesn’t really matter, because the agenda sheet says:\r\n

\r\nAlthough the national wetlands inventory (NWI) in VALOR does not\r\nshow wetlands on the subject property, the survey does indicate\r\ntheir presence in the southeastern corner. If approved, that wetland\r\narea along with the two wetland ditches depicted are planned to be\r\naddressed during the civil phase of development through the Lowndes\r\nCounty Engineering Division. As a courtesy, the applicant has\r\nsubmitted a conceptual site plan. It should be noted that, unless\r\nrequired by a condition of approval, the site plan is not binding\r\nand has not been approved by Lowndes County.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nWe should trust a company that does not know where its own stores are?\r\n

\r\nApparently nobody has sent in any more letters than weeks ago,\r\nsince the packet of correspondence is identical to that I \r\nposted five weeks ago<\/a>.\r\n
