He will announce the\nchange to his current employer, the Valdosta-Lowndes County Industrial\nAuthority, on Tuesday, Wendel said.\n<p>\nLofton will begin work on the Grand Strand on April 15, bringing to an\nend the EDC&#8217;s search for a new chief executive, which began more than\na year ago.\n<p>\nThe EDC will pay Lofton about $121,000 a year to bring new industry and\njobs to Horry County.\n<\/blockquote>\nLook what else they mentioned:\n\n<!--more-->\n<blockquote>\nThe biomass power-plant earned its share of vocal opponents, but Wendel\nassured the committee that the project also had the support of many\nenvironmental groups as well as the Environmental Protection Agency,\nand that Lofton had handled the situation well.\n<\/blockquote>\nThis is even more interesting, about Lofton&#8217;s previous job before VLCIA:\n<blockquote>\nLofton was asked to resign from the Effingham development agency in June\n2006, according to news reports. Lofton told reporters he was surprised\nby the ultimatum he received to resign or be fired, because he had never\nbeen criticized by the agency&#8217;s board of directors.\n<\/blockquote>\nIt seems the Myrtle Beach newspaper is doing more due diligence\nthan the EDC board.\nAnd by his own account, Lofton wasn&#8217;t just asked to resign from\nthe Effingham job;\n<a href=\"http:\/\/savannahnow.com\/business\/2006-06-14\/effingham-ida-official-says-he-was-forced-resign\">\nhe was asked to resign immediately:<\/a>\n<blockquote>\nBrad Lofton said Effingham County Industrial Development Authority\nlawyer Mickey Kicklighter told him Tuesday to resign immediately as\nchief executive officer or be fired.\n<\/blockquote>\nIn that SavannahNow article from 2006 he complained:\n<blockquote>\n&#8220;The board never talked to me,&#8221; Lofton, 29, said Wednesday. &#8220;Their\nattorney came to my office Tuesday morning and said they wanted my\nresignation.
