Update 2023-01-10<\/strong>:\r\nPublic Notice: Rezoning REZ-2022-20, GA 122 @ Skipper Bridge Road for a Dollar General 2023-01-08<\/a>.\r\n\r\n

Update 2022-12-22<\/strong>:\r\nVideos: Lowndes County buys land from Helen Tapp for Troupville Nature Park and River Camp 2022-12-13<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nThe Lowndes County Commission tabled the rezoning for a Dollar General on GA 122 at Skipper Bridge Road<\/a> until January 24, 2023,\r\nbecause they were a day short on required notice.\r\n

\r\nA dozen or more people in opposition were visible<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nTurns out the county did send the\r\n\r\ncorrespondence<\/a> about that before I asked for it in this meeting,\r\nand within the statutory three days for answering a Georgia open records request.\r\nAll the letters returned were in opposition.\r\n

\r\nThey made the historic purchase for Troupville Nature Camp and River Park<\/a>,\r\nof Land Between the Rivers at the Little River Confluence with the Withlacoochee River.\r\nAnd Chairman Bill Slaughter called seller Helen Tapp up to say a few words.\r\n

\r\nApparently they are also modest, since some of them did not seem to like compliments<\/a> about that purchase.\r\n

\r\nThey reappointed Franklin Bailey<\/a> to the Greater Lowndes Planning Commission (GLPC).\r\n

\r\nEverything else passed unanimously.\r\n

\r\nIn Citizens Wishing to be Heard,\r\n\r\nKelly Saxon<\/a> asked for assistance for the homeless,\r\n\r\nJohn S. Quarterman<\/a> complimented the Commission on purchasing the Troupville land,\r\nand\r\n\r\nBlake Robinson<\/a>\r\nsaid there may not be many young people who come to these meetings,\r\nbut they do appreciate the local government work the Commissioners are doing.\r\n
