\r\nAt their Regular Session, Chairman Bill Slaughter pulled\r\n\r\n7.a. One Valdosta Lowndes Community-Wide Initiative<\/a>\r\nup front on the Lowndes County Commission agenda,\r\nbecause at least one of the OVL VIPs had another meeting:\r\nOne Valdosta-Lowndes Co-Chairs VSU President Dr. Richard Carvajal and Georgia Power\u2019s Scott Purvis, as well as Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber President Christie Moore.\r\nAt least one of them left immediately after the Commissioners approved $200,000 total over five years to the Chamber to support OVL.\r\n

\r\nThe County’s audio feed in the back of the room was again not working,\r\nso audio is whatever the LAKE video camera could pick up.\r\n

\r\nCommissioners discussed the one rezoning,\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n6.a. REZ-2022-07 Hayden Park<\/a>,\r\nfor almost fourteen minutes.\r\nThe only thing new was GDOT will require a traffic study.\r\nOne person spoke against, waving a couple of posters at the Commissioners that nobody else could see.\r\nBill Nijem spoke for.\r\nCommissioner Scottie Orenstein said the GDOT traffic study\r\nmight result in a requirement for a traffic light at River Chase,\r\nand any costs from either would be on the developer.\r\nIn response to a question from Commissioner Demarcus Marshall,\r\nCounty Director of Engineering Services Chad McLeod said the GDOT\r\nrequirements would enter into the specific planning process.\r\nThis is all in addition to the turn lanes already in process.\r\nCommissioners approved the rezoning unanimously.\r\n

\r\nCommissioner Orenstein did recuse himself from the appointment of Lynn Orenstein\r\nto the\r\n\r\n5.a. Lowndes County Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) Board<\/a>,\r\nbut not from the vote on the rezoning.\r\n

\r\nThey approved everything else unanimously with minimal or no discussion.\r\n

\r\nOne\r\n\r\nCitizen Wished to be Heard<\/a>,\r\nasking for speed humps on Robin Lane, with a petition of all the neighbors.\r\nCommissioners did not answer him, not even the usual talk to you afterwards.\r\nWill they eventually tell him the usual that Lowndes County doesn’t do speed humps?\r\n
