Update 2022-04-25<\/strong>:\r\n\r\nVideos: $9 Million Courthouse renovations, Subdivision at N. Valdosta Road & Val Del @ LCC 2022-04-25<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nStill listed as “BUDGET IMPACT: N\/A” on the Lowndes County Commission agenda for this morning and voting tomorrow evening:\r\nREZ-2022-07 Hayden Park, Camelot Crossing & Val Del Rd<\/a>.\r\nNevermind that the county has spent untold funds on a\r\nLowndes County Traffic Engineering Report: N. Valdosta Road and Val Del Road<\/a>\r\nand will spend more on actually constructing those turn lanes on Val Del Road.\r\nNevermind that just up Val Del Road the county proposed to\r\nAdopt Resolution Accepting Infrastructure for Val Del Estates Subdivision Phase III<\/a>,\r\nmeaning the county will have to pay to maintain those streets,\r\njust like it will eventually for streets in this other Val Del Road subdivision.\r\n

\r\nFor sure, subdivisions should be inside existing water and sewer infrastructure.\r\nBut it would be nice if the county would tell the public the real costs of every subdivision.\r\n\r\n\r\n

\r\nThere are plenty of acknowledged expenses on the agenda, adding up to more than $10 million dollars, mostly for renovating the historic courthouse.\r\nThe two legal items appear to be offset by grants.\r\n

\r\nThe One Valdosta-Lowndes item seems to be coming out of property taxes in unincorporated Lowndes County.\r\nNo detail was provided as to what the projects will be nor who will be on the steering committee.\r\n

\r\nHISTORY, FACTS AND ISSUES: Lowndes County leadership has worked with the One Valdosta-Lowndes\r\nsteering committee over the past several years to develop a community-wide initiative that will address local\r\nchallenges with a focus on workforce development and private sector support. The Valdosta-Lowndes\r\nChamber of Commerce has agreed to provide an environment for operations, with continued oversight from\r\nthe steering committee.\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n
