The\nTennessee Valley Authority paid the school district for electricity\nit generated. The school district doesn&#8217;t have a power plant, per\nse, like the utility company. But it does have an energy producer,\n<a href=\"https:\/\/homepower.com\/articles\/zero-net-energy-school-days\">\n<img style=\"float:right;border:none;\"   width=\"241\" height=\"115\"\nsrc=\"https:\/\/homepower.com\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/article_gallery_active\/public\/articles\/images\/pg_28_Crystalline.fxd_.jpg\"><\/a>\nthe first \u201cnet-zero\u201d school in the nation: Richardsville\nElementary School.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nThe check is tangible evidence that net-zero pays for itself and\nthen some.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cIt has exceeded expectations. We&#8217;re seeing a savings of\nmillions of dollars in energy costs,\u201d state Rep.
