\n\nEpiscopal Church:<\/a>\n

\n\n<\/a>\n“The shipping of fathers and mothers to private prisons in far-flung\nstates is guaranteeing a new generation of frightened, angry,\ndisenfranchised children, who are future inmates,” she said, adding that\n“families who try to visit loved ones are treated as suspects in many\nprisons. The children cannot understand the lack of warmth and hospitality\nin the visiting rooms.”\n

\nThe Episcopal Church’s General Convention is on record in opposition to\nprivate prisons.\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n\n<\/a>\nSince the goal of for-profit private prisons is earning a profit for\ntheir shareholders, there is a basic and fundamental conflict with the\nconcept of rehabilitation as the ultimate goal of the prison system.\nWe believe that this is a glaring and significant flaw in our justice\nsystem and that for-profit private prisons should be abolished.\n<\/blockquote>\n
