significant decision\r\non a very brief agenda for the Lowndes County Commission 8:30 AM tomorrow morning,\r\nand voting 5:30 PM <del>Tuesday<\/del> Monday, that same evening.\r\nOne of them used to be funded by Valdosta, which it primarily benefits, but Lowndes County picked up that one back in 2019.\r\nThe other the county has been funding since 2009; it&#8217;s at the same Little River location that at its last meeting\r\nthe Commission fortunately decided not to close to the public.\r\n<p>\r\nThere&#8217;s a Monday morning Work Session presentation from the Lowndes County Extension Service Office.\r\n<p>\r\nThe only actual decisions are on yet another beer and wine license,\r\nand on funding two USGS gauges, at Folsom Bridge on GA 122 on the Little River west of Hahira,\r\nand at Skipper Bridge on the Withlacoochee River north of Valdosta.\r\n<p style=\"text-align:center;font-size:80%;font-style:italic\">\r\n<a title=\"Gauge cost, Little River, Withlacoochee River\" name=\"M:Gauge-cost-Little-River-Withlacoochee-River\" href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/govt\/loco\/2021-10-25--lcc-packet\/many.html\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=0 src=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/govt\/loco\/2021-10-25--lcc-packet\/many.jpg\"  alt=\"[Gauge cost, Little River, Withlacoochee River]\"><\/a>\r\n<br><a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/govt\/loco\/2021-10-25--lcc-packet\/many.html\">Gauge cost, Little River, Withlacoochee River<\/a>\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nLowndes County has been funding $14,200 for the Folsom Bridge gauge since shortly after the\r\nbig flood of 2009.\r\nNote that this the same Little River site that the Commssion in its last meeting\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2021\/10\/videos-subdivision-way-out-of-bounds-approved-and-million-dollar-water-main-but-wells-road-stays-open.html\">decided not to close to the public<\/a> by href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2019\/10\/packet-river-gauges-roads-alcohol-and-fire-lcc-2019-10-21.html\">\r\nValdosta ceased paying for its part of the Skipper Bridge gauge<\/a>,\r\napparently because Valdosta <a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2019\/10\/videos-river-gauges-roads-alcohol-and-fire-lcc-2019-10-21.html\">discovered that location is not within its city limits<\/a>,\r\nand\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2019\/11\/videos-river-gauges-roads-alcohol-and-fire-lcc-2019-10-22.html\">\r\nLowndes County picked up that cost<\/a> of $8,300.\r\nThe rest for Skipper Bridge is paid by\r\nUSGS ($900) and Florida&#8217;s Suwannee River Water Management District (SRWMD, $5,900).\r\n<p map, it&#8217;s rather ironic\r\nthat Valdosta is not paying for the Skipper Bridge gauge,\r\nsince it&#8217;s the source of water levels for the\r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/wwals.net\/2020\/11\/26\/flood-inundation-mapper-fim-2019-10-21\/\">\r\nUSGS Flood Inundation Mapper (FIM)<\/a>,\r\nfor the Withlacoochee River floodplain from Skipper Bridge to GA 133,\r\nwhich primarily benefits Valdosta.\r\n<p>\r\nValdosta does continue to pay towards the US 41 (North Valdosta Road) Withlacoochee River gauge.\r\n<p style=\"text-align:center;font-size:80%;font-style:italic\">\r\n<a title=\"$15,400 Little River @ GA 122 + $9,350 Withlacoochee River @ Skipper Bridge Road\"
