\r\nAt least part of the long-contentious Service Delivery Strategy (SDS)\r\nhas been resolved between Lowndes County and the City of Valdosta.\r\nThe county has agreed not to fund county roads using property taxes from incorporated taxpayers, that is, taxpayers within city limits of\r\nany of the five cities in the county.\r\n

\r\nPlus the county is spending a million dollars on communications equipment,\r\nroad graders, and an architect for a library addition.\r\n\r\n

County roads not to be paid out of city property taxes<\/a>\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n

\r\nIn regards to County Roads:\r\n

    \r\n
  1. \r\nThe County agrees to pay for the cost of maintenance and operation of unpaved\r\nroads and associated storm water collection and control\r\n\r\nin the County Road System<\/span>\r\nfrom revenues other than General Fund revenues\r\n\r\nor property tax revenues from incorporated taxpayers.<\/span>\r\nThe County agrees to provide an annual accounting to the\r\nCities of the cost of maintenance per mile of unpaved roads in the County Road\r\nSystem.\r\n
  2. \r\nThe County agrees to resurface those county roads located within the Cities as of\r\nSeptember 9, 2021, as deemed necessary based on current engineering standards.\r\n<\/ol>\r\n
