Update 2021-08-09<\/strong>:\r\nThe never-ending Lake Alapaha Water Treatment Plant saga @ LCC 2021-08-10<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nThe biggest ticket item is yet more public money to be spent on water for the\r\nprivate Lake Alapaha subdivision next to the Alapaha River,\r\nin the Lowndes County Commission agenda for Monday morning, August 9, 2021, and voting Tuesday evening, August 10.\r\n

\r\nOn the\r\n\r\nTourism Authority appointment<\/a>,\r\nMolly Deese succeeded the previous General Manager of Wild Adventures, \r\nso it’s a safe bet that the current GM, Jonathan Vigue, will succeed her on that Authority.\r\nBut he’s got some competition with Rita Hightower of the Garden Center and The Crescent.\r\n\r\n

\r\nAs usual, none of the three rezonings are counted as affecting the county budget,\r\nalthough all three will have long-term effects, two negative because of school buses and Fire and Sheriff Department calls, and one maybe positive because\r\nit’s for solar panels:\r\nREZ-2021-12 US 84\/I-75 Industrial Park ~542 ac., County Utilities, I-S, M-1, M-2 and P-D (Amended)<\/a>.\r\n

The three rezonings<\/a>\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nNote the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers determination that the remaining part of\r\n\r\nVal Del Villas off Val Del Road<\/a>\r\nis not jurisdictional wetlands, so more houses can be built.\r\nNorthside Property Development has the same registered agent as\r\nUvalde Land Company that bought the Cherry Creek Mitigation Bank\r\nnext to the Withlacoochee River\r\nand wants to deannex the upland half of it from Valdosta<\/a>.\r\nThe uplands in that Bank tract are not jurisdictional wetlands, either.\r\n

\r\nThe other subdivision also involves wetlands, two creeks leading to Bay Branch\r\nand the Withlacoochee River,\r\nplus at least one retention pond:\r\nREZ-2021-09 Building Valdosta Subdivision (0070 018), R-A to R-21, Community Well & Septic, ~64.84 acres<\/a>.\r\n\r\n\r\n
