\n\n<\/a>\nIf the regional transportation roundtable does not agree on a list\nto present to the voters by October 15th of 2011,\nthen each jurisdiction in this region must match their\nLocal Maintenance and Improvement Grant … at a rate of 50%.\n<\/blockquote>\nThat’s\n\nLocal Maintenance and Improvement Grant Program (LMIG)<\/a>.\nSo if they get $100,000 from LMIG they’ll have to match that with $50,000.\nThis will affect smaller communities the most, since they use the\nmost LMIG funds proportionally.\nAnd the most likely way to raise the funds to match is to raise property taxes.\n

\nSo what if there is a list on the ballot but the voters vote it down?\n\n\n

\nIf the voters do not approve the tax, then each local jurisdiction\nmust match their LMIG funds at a rate of 30%.\nAnd the region must wait for two years before we can go back to the ballot.\n<\/blockquote>\nSo if the voters approve there’s probably no penalty, right?\nWrong:\n
