\nThe\n\npublic defender<\/a> said the county palace (that we’re still mysteriously\npaying on) didn’t have space for his office.\n\n<\/a>\nThe\n\nIndustrial Authority<\/a> request to buy some still-unspecified property\n\u201chas been pulled from the agenda\u201d by unspecified forces.\nThe new\n\n4-H agent<\/a> spoke and\n\na bus<\/a> was discussed.\nOne Commissioner forgot to show up until late to hear\n\nWorkers’ compensation<\/a> is going up and the Commission’s own\n\nschedule<\/a> is being adjusted for holidays.\nThere was little substantive discussion, and\nthere’s no sign anything will change at the Lowndes County Commission\nunless enough people want it to.\nThey vote this evening at 5:30 PM, and they do have Citizens Wishing\nto be Heard, although it is still at the end, after all the votes.\n<\/p>\n

    \nThe chairman thanked people for taking time out of their day to come,\nincluding staff.\nThis is puzzling, since I thought county staff were paid to be there\nas part of their work.\n<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    \n\n<\/a>\n\nLowndes County Extension Agent Jake Price<\/a>\nintroduced\n\n<\/a>\n\nDistrict Director Laura Johnson<\/a>\nwho thanked the Commission for supporting County Extension:\nsalary, IT support, and “all the great relations.”\nShe said former 4-H agent\n\n<\/a>\n\nMelinda Miller<\/a>\nmoved to the district office,\ncreating a vacancy.\nThe new 4-H agent is\nLaura Walton,\n\nformerly of Cherokee County<\/a>.\nCommissioner Powell joked that they were so pleased with the new agent\nhe thought they were going to approve a new bus for 4-H.\n<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        \n“Kevin” explained it was an annual renewal through ACCG’s program,\n$217,372 this time.\n\u201cAnd from the history you can see on that sheet\u201d\n(but we the taxpayers can’t see) he said there were several credits.\n<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
