agenda\u201d by unspecified forces.\nThe new\n<a href=\"#4-H Agent\">\n4-H agent<\/a> spoke and\n<a href=\"#4-H Bus\">\na bus<\/a> was discussed.\nOne Commissioner forgot to show up until late to hear\n<a href=\"#Insurance\">\nWorkers&#8217; compensation<\/a> is going up and the Commission&#8217;s own\n<a href=\"#Schedule\">\nschedule<\/a> is being adjusted for holidays.\nThere was little substantive discussion, and\nthere&#8217;s no sign anything will change at the Lowndes County Commission\nunless enough people want it to.\nThey vote this evening at 5:30 PM, and they do have Citizens Wishing\nto be Heard, although it is still at the end, after all the votes.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nHere&#8217;s\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.southernjudicialcircuit.com\/sodr.htm\">\nSouthern Judicial Circuit<\/a> asking for renewal funds.\nIn particular, Lowndes, Brooks, and Echols joijn together to provide the\nValdosta-Lowndes County office, which is located in the\nBank of America building.\nCounty Attorney made some sort of clarification among various documents\nthat we the taxpayers didn&#8217;t get to see.\nCommissioner Powell wanted to know if there was any space in a county\nbuilding that might reduce rental costs.\nKent said the current lease ran through 2013.\nHe said they were originally proposed to be in the county&#8217;s judicial building,\nbut apparently space was not available.\nWhich is rather surprising: they county spent all that money\non a new judicial building\n(that we&#8217;re\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/12\/zero-owed-in-2010-why-89-million-owed-now-on-county-palace-lcc-2012-12-11.html\">\nmysteriously still paying on after we were told it was paid off<\/a>)\nyet didn&#8217;t allow enough space for the public defender&#8217;s office.\n<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=gdJAHjvZYCM&amp;list=PLshUv86fYkiFVq8j-f8lHAwiIf_1PM77_&amp;index=5\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" Manager\nPritchard mentioned\n\u201cin the document you submitted in your review for approval by the board today\u201d\n(but we the taxpayers can&#8217;t see)\nthere was mention of rollover funds.\nPublic defender explained those were reserved for conflict cases.\nPritchard wanted to know how many employees were referenced by &#8220;this $24,000&#8221;.\nPublic defender said there were 24 county employees.\nPritchard asked for more figures.\n<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-4SsUM6jRcw&amp;list=PLshUv86fYkiFVq8j-f8lHAwiIf_1PM77_&amp;playnext=4&amp;feature=autoplay\">\nhealth insurance and retirement contributions<\/a>\n<p style=\"font-style: normal;\">\nCosts of those went up, and the state will not pay for that, so the county needs to.\nCommissioner Raines (I think that was who spoke) wanted to know\nif the amount requested was the full amount.\nPublic Defender said no, it was 49% which was Lowndes County&#8217;s share\nby population.\nTotal amount was $48,577.31.\n<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<a name=\"VLCIA\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=m6kXDOYKTFY&amp;list=PLshUv86fYkiFVq8j-f8lHAwiIf_1PM77_&amp;index=8\">\nValdosta\/Lowndes County Industrial Authority \u2014 Request to Purchase Property <\/a>\n<p style=\"font-style: normal;\">\nChairman Slaughter&#8217;s explanation:\n<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n\u201cOur next item, d, has been, actually has been pulled from the agenda,\nso we style=\"font-style: normal;\">\nCounty Manager Joe Pritchard asked Finance Director Stephanie Black\nto explain the bids, and he also cast about for someone from public works\nto help, eventually waving at \u201cTommy\u201d in the audience.\n(Usual bid presenter Lisa Burton apparently was absent.)\nBlack said 4-H had raised $24,000 that they had applied to the purchase\nof a 14-passenger bus used for 4-H functions throughout Georgia.\nThe county will pay the balance.\nBids received were from Langdale Ford for a Ford bus for $53,178,\nand for a Chevy bus for $53,641, and from Yancy Bus Sales in Macon\n$57,557.\nTommy said something that was quite hard to hear.\nPritchard said they&#8217;d have a picture of the bus on the screen the next night.\nOf the old bus?\nOf the new proposed buses?\nHe didn&#8217;t say.\nHe did thank the 4-H &#8220;kids&#8221; for providing funds, claiming the county\notherwise wouldn&#8217;t be able to afford such a bus.\nChairman Slaughter\n<a
