\r\nThat’s 2.6% of the $120 million county annual budget.\r\n

\r\nCurious that they’re willing to spend\r\n$198,775.00 for fast, reliabile,\r\n\r\nInternet connectivity to their own offices<\/a> but nothing for the rest of the population of Lowndes County.\r\n

\r\nI’ve lost track of how much they’ve spent on\r\n\r\nClyattstone Road to connect Old US 41 N and Val Del Road<\/a>\r\nto promote development in that area.\r\n

\r\nI commend the county for the\r\nGEFA Loan Application<\/a>\r\nfor wastewater utilities projects:\r\n

\r\n

\r\nHISTORY, FACTS AND ISSUES: The Georgia Environmental Finance\r\nAuthority offers funding through the State Revolving Fund. Local\r\ngovernments are able to secure low interest loans to be used for\r\nutility projects. Lowndes County has identified several lift station\r\nand manhole rehabilitation improvement projects.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nThe loan can be structured to spread repayment over a period of up\r\nto 30 years; however, there is no penalty for paying the loan off\r\nearly. The proposed interest rate will not exceed 1.94% While the\r\ntotal loan amount is $2,500,000.00 it includes a grant component\r\nwhich allows for forgiveness of up to $625,000.00 of the loan\r\namount. Staff recommends approval of the GEFA Loan Application.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n
