\r\nTuesday at 5:30 PM the Lowndes County Commission proposes to spend\r\nabout $73,000 on water projects, which is a good thing.\r\nMonday at 8:30 AM they also do have a Work Session scheduled.\r\n\r\n

\r\nI commend the county for proactively preventing major sewer system leaks.\r\nHm, only one bid<\/a>?\r\n

\r\n“HISTORY, FACTS AND ISSUES: The discharge pipes at Blue Lake lift\r\nstation are leaking due to corrosion. Staff has deemed this an\r\nemergency due to the condition of the pipes and the pumps not\r\noperating at capacity. A bid was received from RPI Underground Inc.\r\nfor $71,789.00 to make the necessary repairs to bring the station\r\nback to designed capacity and operation. Staff recommends approval\r\nof Blue Lake lift station emergency repairs and authorize RPI\r\nUnderground Inc to make the repairs for $71,789.00.”\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nThe two rezonings that were not previously heard by the Planning Commission\r\n(which did not meet last month due to pandemic)\r\nare not listed as having any “BUDGET IMPACT”.\r\n

\r\nAlso they will (almost certainly)\r\nreappoint Andrea Schruijer and Clay Griner to the\r\nSouth Regional Joint Development Authority<\/a>.\r\nAnd almost certainly they will\r\n reappoint Victoria Copeland<\/a> to the\r\n\r\nValdosta-Lowndes County Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBOA)<\/a>, plus someone else,\r\nwith no candidates listed.\r\nInterestingly, the agenda sheet for ZBOA says\r\n“DEPARTMENT: Zoning DEPARTMENT HEAD: JD Dillard”\r\neven though the county’s website still says\r\n\r\n \r\nTrinni Amiot, County Planner<\/a>\r\nand\r\n\r\nZoning, Debra Tulloch<\/a>.\r\nThey hired J.D. Dillard as County Planner going on four weeks ago<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nBoth the\r\nLowndes County<\/a>\r\nand\r\n\r\nValdosta<\/a>\r\nlists of ZBOA members are out of date,\r\nsince they both list Gretchen Quarterman as a member,\r\neven though her last term expired on May 7, 2020, after 12 years,\r\nand ZBOA already had a June meeting without her.\r\n

\r\nThe Greater Lowndes Planning Commission (GLPC) did not meet in May due to pandemic,\r\nbut the County Commission is having\r\nPublic Hearing<\/a>s on two rezonings anyway.\r\n

\r\nThe \r\nUpgrades to Lowndes County Facilities through a Comprehensive Project Contract<\/a> turns out to be\r\n\r\n“to reduce Lowndes County’s energy and operation costs, while at the same time\r\nmodernizing county facilities.”<\/a>\r\nAlso self-funded.\r\nThey did put out a Request for Qualifications, 27 companies asked for the RFQ package, but only one submitted an RFQ:\r\n\r\nABM Building Solutions LLC<\/a>.\r\nAccording to the agenda sheet, County Manager Joe Pritchard and Engineering Project Manager Chad McLeod say ABM is qualified.\r\nAlso: “If ABM is able to show the\r\nprogram does meet all the criteria as set forth in the RFQ and Lowndes County does not move forward with a\r\ncontract, Lowndes County will pay ABM $50,240.00 for their work on the survey, analysis and final proposal.”\r\n
