Further, the program used does not record a\r\nphone log for the option utilized for this meeting. This being case,\r\nthere are no records responsive to your request. I do expect the\r\nnext meeting to be held in the Commission Chambers with social\r\ndistancing requirements observed. This being the case, citizens will\r\nhave an opportunity to attend in person which is a much better\r\nformat for everyone.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nWell, that&#8217;s a matter of opinion.\r\nDo you think it&#8217;s better to have to wear a mask to the Commission Chambers and risk getting infected, than to listen on the phone?\r\n<p>\r\nThe Valdosta City Council had their meeting this Thursday on facebook live.\r\nThe Madison, Florida, BOCC has been doing theirs on gotomeeting.\r\nIt&#8217;s curious how the most populous county in the region can&#8217;t manage a teleconference or video meeting.\r\n<p>\r\nLAKE received the full board packet two days after the meeting, at 5:07 PM on Thursday, April 30, 2020, in response to an open records request.\r\nIt&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/govt\/loco\/2020-04-28--lcc-packet\">\r\non the LAKE website<\/a>.\r\nWe look forward to Lowndes County putting its full packet on its website along with\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2020\/04\/trash-franchises-stream-monitoring-wetlands-credits-force-main-quit-claims-paving-and-accountability-court-lcc-2020-04-28.html\">the agenda<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/lowndescounty.com\/AgendaCenter\/PreviousVersions\/_04282020-340\">one-page agenda sheets per item<\/a>.\r\nMany other counties in Georgia and Florida have been doing this for years.\r\n<p>\r\nWhen will the Lowndes County Commission catch up with the 21st century?\r\n<H4><a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/govt\/loco\/2020-04-28--lcc-packet\/#April282020CommissionMeetingPacket\">April-28-2020-Commission-Meeting-Packet<\/a><\/H4>\r\n<p>\r\nBy far the biggest item was the\r\n$6,545,729.00\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/govt\/loco\/2020-04-28--lcc-packet\/#Coleman-Road-Force-Main-Replacement\">Coleman Road Force Main Replacement<\/a>.\r\nThe county apparently saved a bunch of money by removing many amounts from the bid for the county to do directly.\r\n<p style=\"text-align:center;font-size:80%;font-style:italic\">\r\n<a title=\"Amount Removed from Bid\" name=\"Coleman-Road-Force-Main-Replacement:Amount-Removed-from-Bid\" href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/govt\/loco\/2020-04-28--lcc-packet\/April-28-2020-Commission-Meeting-Packet-0066.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"  width=\"600\" height=\"778\"  border=0 src=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/govt\/loco\/2020-04-28--lcc-packet\/April-28-2020-Commission-Meeting-Packet-0066.jpg\"  alt=\"[Amount Removed from Bid]\"><\/a>\r\n<br><a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/govt\/loco\/2020-04-28--lcc-packet\/#Coleman-Road-Force-Main-Replacement:Amount-Removed-from-Bid\">Amount Removed from Bid<\/a>\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nCurious how they didn&#8217;t do that for the sole-source no-bid\r\n$45,120.00\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/govt\/loco\/2020-04-28--lcc-packet\/#Professional-Services-for-Sampling-Monitoring-and-Reporting-of-Impaired-Streams\">Professional Services for Sampling, Monitoring and Reporting of Impaired Streams<\/a>.\r\nMore on that in another blog post.\r\n<p>\r\nThe county bid everything else that could be bid, including the\r\n$228,400.95<!--more-->\r\n\r\n\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/govt\/loco\/2020-04-28--lcc-packet\/#LMIG-Resurfacing-Contract\">LMIG Resurfacing Contract<\/a>.\r\nHere are the\r\n<a title=\"Roads to be resurfaced under 2020 LMIG Grant\" href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/govt\/loco\/2020-04-28--lcc-packet\/April-28-2020-Commission-Meeting-Packet-0070.html\">\r\nRoads to be resurfaced under 2020 LMIG Grant<\/a>:\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Amberly Trail\r\n<li>Bridle Ridge Drive\r\n<li>Calumet Drive\r\n<li>Claybourne Lane\r\n<li>Ridgemere Drive\r\n<li>Saddlebred Lane\r\n<li>Trotters Ridge Circle\r\n<li>Joseph Road\r\n<li>Lloyd Jackson Road\r\n<li>Sandbridge Road\r\n<li>Copeland Road\r\n<li>Studstill Road\r\n<li>Knights Ferry Road\r\n<li>Pikes Pond Road\r\n<li>Carriage Drive\r\n<li>Covan Circle\r\n<li>Ivandale Circle\r\n<li>Woodsdale Drive\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>\r\nAs \r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2020\/04\/videos-deannexation-rezonings-right-of-way-software-health-insurance-road-repairs-lcc-2020-02-24.html#N-6-c-d-Approval-of-Clyattstone-Rd-Simpson-Ln-ROW-Purchases\">\r\npreviously noted<\/a>,\r\nthe total cost for the Clyattstone\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/govt\/loco\/2020-04-28--lcc-packet\/#X5e-Purchase-of-Wetland-Credits-for-Clyattstone-Road-Simpson-Lane-Paving-Project\">Clyattstone Road &#8211; Simpson Lane Paving Project<\/a>\r\nis far more than the $20,000 for wetland credits approved at this meeting.\r\nMore like $77,696.50 so far, and that&#8217;s before clearing, grading, base, and paving.\r\n<p style=\"text-align:center;font-size:80%;font-style:italic\">\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2020\/04\/videos-deannexation-rezonings-right-of-way-software-health-insurance-road-repairs-lcc-2020-02-24.html#N-6-c-d-Approval-of-Clyattstone-Rd-Simpson-Ln-ROW-Purchases\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"6.c\/d. Franchise Fees. ...$3.00 per ton ... monthly\" href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/govt\/loco\/2020-04-28--lcc-packet\/April-28-2020-Commission-Meeting-Packet-0009.html\">$3.00 per ton monthly<\/a>,\r\nthe actual effect on the budget should be positive, not zero.\r\n<p>\r\nOf course, that&#8217;s not counting\r\nthe hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars the county spent suing about waste management.\r\nYet the franchises now specify that\r\n<a title=\"4. Number of Nonexclusive Franchisees.
