\nValdosta Develops Strategy for Continued Energy Conservation\n

\nThe final activity that is underway is the completion of an Energy\nEfficiency and Conservation Strategy (EECS) to help Valdosta effectively\nmanage its use of energy resources. As part of this effort, the community’s\nhelp is being requested to develop the best strategy possible for the city.\nThe EECS will take the form of a report to the city, helping us decide what\nwe want to achieve and then providing a strategy for getting us there. In\nparticular, the EECS provides guidance for future decisions to make sure our\nchoices reflect a smart and sustainable energy policy. This includes\npotential projects and activities that the city can undertake to improve our\nuse of energy resources.\n

\n“We’re hoping to tap into the creative ideas of the Valdosta community to\nhelp make this a plan that works for the city,” said Mayor John J. Fretti.\n“Our project website, located at \nwww.energyvaldosta.com<\/a>, provides an easy and effective way to provide input,\nand we will, of course, accept written comments sent to City Hall, at P.O.\nBox 1125, Valdosta, Georgia 31603.”\n

\nThe website contains links to two brief questionnaires. One provides an\neasy way to suggest projects for inclusion in the EECS. The second asks\nabout goals that should be included in the EECS. To keep the project\nmoving, responses to these questionnaires are requested by May 20, 2011.\nThere is also a contact link on the website that can be used to ask specific\nquestions or make additional recommendations. The EECS will be developed\nduring the summer months, and a draft document presented to the City Council\nin the fall. Final adoption is anticipated prior to year’s end.\n
