\r\nNancy Hobby recused herself before the\r\nlengthy discussion of the one\r\n\r\nZBOA case for August 2019<\/a>, which was actually in Lowndes County,\r\n\r\nVAR-2019-09 \u2014 Tycor Farms (6734 Georgia Highway 376, Lake Park) Request for a variance….<\/a>\r\nor\r\n\r\n6530 GA 376<\/a>,\r\naccording to a followup letter from the applicant’s representative.\r\n

\r\nThere was still nothing about the wetlands around the place, leading to \r\nEnoch Creek, then into the Alapahoochee River,\r\ninto the Alapaha, the Suwannee, and on to the Gulf.\r\n

\r\nHowever, the likely wetlands seem to be along the eastern edge of the cleared area,\r\nso one can guess the solar panels are not going there.\r\n

\r\nNobody from the audience spoke for or against the application.\r\nThe result was:\r\n\r\n\r\n

\r\nVice-Chairman Strickland made a motion to approve the variance\r\nrequests as presented for the duration of the lease, and that if the\r\nlease was not renewed, the variances would become null and void.\r\nMrs. Quarterman seconded the motion. The motion was called and\r\ncarried with a vote of 5-0-1, with Mrs. Hobby abstaining.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nIn this still from the LAKE video,\r\nNancy Hobby’s seat is vacant, but John Hogan has rejoined ZBOA.\r\nThey welcomed him back at that meeting.\r\nHe had been on ZBOA earlier, and gone for a while.\r\nThe Lowndes County Commission reappointed him on July 9, 2019,\r\nin a \r\nsplit vote<\/a> that required the County Commission Chairman to break a tie\r\nbetween him and the incumbent, Paul Alvarado.\r\n

\r\nThe minutes are on the LAKE website<\/a>,\r\ncourtesy of ZBOA member Gretchen Quarterman,\r\nand the Valdostat City website has finally caught up<\/a>.\r\nIn the minutes is this interesting addendum after welcoming John Hogan:\r\n

\r\nChairman McCall asked if anyone had anything else they need to\r\ndiscuss. Ms. Tolley stated that Mr. Brantley had applied for\r\nreappointment and Valdosta City Council would consider the\r\nappointment at that night’s Council meeting.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nChairman McCall stated he had talked to City and County staff about\r\nkeeping track of attendance through a spreadsheet or some other\r\nmethod. Mr. Hogan mentioned that an attendance policy may need to be\r\nadopted. Mrs. Quarterman stated that the Board has an attendance\r\npolicy in the By-Laws, and that she could look through her\r\ninformation to see if she had a copy. Ms. Tolley stated she thought\r\nshe had seen a copy of the By-Laws, but did not know when or if they\r\nhad officially been adopted, but the Board could further discuss\r\nafter staff located what was existing in terms of By-Laws.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nIt would seem useful to know whether ZBOA has bylaws and what’s in them.\r\n
