Yesterday I wrote that we were left with hearsay through Ashley Paulk
\nand people he talked to about what the Industrial Authority is up to,
\nand I had
\n
\nleft telephone messages with all five VLCIA board members.<\/a>
\nSo far, three out of five have called me back.<\/p>\n

\n
\n<\/a>
\nRoy Copeland<\/strong> referred me to VLCIA Chairman Jerry Jennett
\nfor an update about the present status of the biomass plant.<\/p>\n

\nHe also had many good things to say about the activism in the community,
\nincluding this:<\/p>\n

\nBecause people in the community are concerned, that makes us better.
\nAnd sometimes there are good things that come out of disagreement.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This opinion is not new from him: he told me many of the same positive
\nthings about activism months ago after a VLCIA board meeting.
\nWe discussed
\n
\nthat there were other things VLCIA does that were worth supporting.<\/a><\/p>\n

\nHe also said he is in favor of
\n
\nputting the minutes online,<\/a><\/p>\n


\nand he hopes that that will be put up for a vote soon.<\/p>\n

\n
\n<\/a>
\nNorman Bennett<\/strong> said he never saw the letter asking for the extension.
\nHe said his understanding is Wiregrass Power withdrew their letter asking for an extension.
\nSo when the deadline comes June 1st<\/sup><\/small>,
\nif it’s not extended, the project ends.
\nHe reiterated that he didn’t see the letter.
\nHe said:<\/p>\n

\nThe ball’s in their court,
\nand if they don’t even ask for an extension, it’s over and done with.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He also offered to get together with me next week to discuss various topics
\n(I agreed).
\nHe remarked:<\/p>\n

\nThere are a lot of things we can do as a community
\nto move things forward collectively.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He said he is interested in bringing in good solid industry that has upsides
\nand few downsides.<\/p>\n

\nMary Gooding<\/strong>
\nwas very congenial, and on the subject of the biomass plant said:<\/p>\n

\nTalk to my chairman.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

She agreed that we might get together soon to discuss some other matters.<\/p>\n

\nTom Call<\/strong> has not called back.
\n(Is VLCIA ever going to put a picture of Tom Call on its website?
\nThis is the fourth month
\nhe’s been on the VLCIA board.<\/a>)<\/p>\n

\nChairman Jerry Jennett<\/strong> was in a board meeting
\nof his company when I called, and has not yet called back.<\/p>\n

\nWe’ll see what the official VLCIA position is when Chairman Jennett
\ncalls me back.<\/p>\n
