      1. \n\n<\/a>\n\nApproval of the Commission Meeting Schedule<\/a>\n

        \nChairman referred to those (invisible to the taxpayers) packets\nin front of Commissioners.\nIn addition to the\n\ntwo vacation modifications from Monday<\/a>,\nCommissioner Raines wanted to know about vacation in May.\nIf citizens got to see the packets before the meeting,\nthey might be able to point out other issues.\n<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      2. \n\nWorkers Compensation Insurance Renewal<\/a>\n

        \nAfter a much briefer presentation than\nMonday<\/a>,\nthey approved it.\n<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      3. \n\nRenewal of Public Defenders Services Contract & Operating Contract for 2013<\/a>\n

        \nLowndes County\n\nPublic Defender<\/a>\nJohn Kent Edwards Sr\nabstracted his\n\nMonday presentation<\/a>\nand we heard more information was in those mysterious Commission packets.\nThen they voted yes with no discussion.\n<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      4. \n\nValdosta\/Lowndes County Industrial Authority \u2014 Request to Purchase Property <\/a>\n

        \nChairman Slaughter this time said VLCIA had withdrawn the request.\n<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      5. \n\nAlcohol Sunday License Fee<\/a>\n

        \nThis item was not on the agenda.\nChairman Slaughter indicated they added it after the Work Session.\nIt was apparently to remove the license fee for the Sunday alcohol sales\nthat the Commission approved\nTuesday 11 December 2012<\/a>.\nYou may recall Commissioner Powell had said at the Work Session\n\nMonday 10 December 2012<\/a>\nthat he objected to such a fee.\nAnd I asked when I posted the writeup about the Tuesday vote\nwhether the ordinance they passed included that fee or not,\nsince they didn’t say at the time.\nThe ordinance posted on the County’s website as passed Tuesday 11 Dec 2012\n\ndoes include in Appendix A (see page 23) $250 fees for Sunday alcohol sales.<\/a>\nIf the ordinance they were considering had been available to the public\nbetween that Monday and that Tuesday, somebody (maybe a business owner\nwho wanted a Sunday license) might have pointed out to them that\nthey hadn’t removed that fee.\nThe Commission’s lack of transparency is making them have to do over\nwhat they may have thought they already did.\n<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n

      6. \n\n<\/a>\n\nBid \u2014 Multi Function School Activity Bus for 4H <\/a>\n

        \nFinance Director Stephanie Black explained the bids\n\nagain<\/a>\nand Chairman Slaughter again thanked 4-H for raising money.\nCommissioner Marshall asked for clarification about the program.\nCounty Manager Pritchard said it was a hybrid program funded\npartly by UGA and partly by the 159 counties,\nwhich he called “a deep relationship”.\nHe asked for confirmation from the audience by\n\nLowndes County Extension Agent Jake Price<\/a>.\n(The county doesn’t mic people in the audience, but Gretchen pulled\nthe county sound feed out so you can hear him on the LAKE camera’s own mic.)\nThe Commissioners approved the Ford minibus from Langdale Ford for $53,178.\n<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
