{"id":20843,"date":"2019-03-12T08:18:22","date_gmt":"2019-03-12T12:18:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/?p=20843"},"modified":"2019-03-12T08:18:22","modified_gmt":"2019-03-12T12:18:22","slug":"freight-line-rezoning-reviewed-by-planning-commission-glpc-2019-02-25","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2019\/03\/freight-line-rezoning-reviewed-by-planning-commission-glpc-2019-02-25.html","title":{"rendered":"Freight line rezoning reviewed by Planning Commission @ GLPC 2019-02-25"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\r\nAfter Gretchen called Lowndes County yesterday,\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/lowndescounty.com\/AgendaCenter\/ViewFile\/Agenda\/_02252019-295\">\r\nlast month&#8217;s GLPC agenda<\/a>\r\nmagically appeared on the county website, along with a\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/lowndescounty.com\/AgendaCenter\">\r\n2019 tab<\/a> for it to appear in.\r\n<p>\r\nIn addition to a motel, an events center, and an office in\r\n<a href=\"#VALDOSTA\">CITY OF VALDOSTA CASES<\/a>,\r\nthe county rezoning <a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2019\/03\/taxes-water-sewer-las-paving-road-abandonment-lcc-2019-01-12.html\">\r\nbefore the Lowndes County Commission<\/a> today,\r\n<a href=\"#REZ-2019-04\">\r\nREZ-2019-04 Southeastern Freight Line<\/a>,\r\nwas\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/lowndescounty.com\/\/AgendaCenter\/ViewFile\/Item\/2071?fileID=1982\">\r\nreviewed by the Planning Commission last month<\/a>:\r\n<p style=\"text-align:center;font-size:80%;font-style:italic\">\r\n<a href=\"#REZ-2019-04\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border:none\" src=\"https:\/\/i.ytimg.com\/vi\/dBjvv7bc_1Q\/hqdefault.jpg?sqp=-oaymwEYCKgBEF5IVfKriqkDCwgBFQAAiEIYAXAB&#038;rs=AOn4CLA-P_z7xRM2xsYk_I3Awxz5EB5fMA\"><\/a>\r\n<\/p>\r\n<blockquote style=\"font-size:100%\">\r\n<p>\r\nThe TRC considered this request. Zoning found this request\r\ninconsistent with the Comprehensive Plan. There were no other\r\nobjectionable comments.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nStaff found<!--more-->\r\n\r\n the request overall consistent with the Goals and\r\nPolicies of the Comprehensive Plan, however, inconsistent with the\r\nCharacter Area Map and offers the following condition: The use of\r\nthe property shall be limited to the principal use of a terminal for\r\nfreight by truck and accessory uses incidental and subordinate to\r\nsuch a facility.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nThe GLPC heard this request at their February regular meeting and\r\nrecommended for its approval with the condition offered by Staff by\r\na 7-0 vote.
