I-75 to Florida from Pivotal LNG&#8217;s operations is shown,\r\nbut in Florida apparently Cambridge Systematics missed the turn onto I-10\r\nto Jacksonville, instead going on down I-75 to Crystal River.\r\nMaybe they were confused by Strom LNG&#8217;s authorized (but not yet built)\r\nLNG plant there, which actually proposes to export through Port of Tampa.\r\n<p>\r\nWhat&#8217;s missing from this assertion on slide 23:\r\n<blockquote style=\"font-size:100%\">\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>\r\nNatural gas is capturing a larger share of the energy market\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nSolar and wind power are growing far faster than natural gas,\r\nwith solar doubling deployed capacity every two years, and\r\nwind not much slower.\r\nWith batteries also coming along much sooner and cheaper\r\nthan expected, fracked methane is a dead end.\r\nThat&#8217;s why Ron Binz never got to be chair of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC):\r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/usa-energy-ferc\/corrected-u-s-energy-regulator-nominee-criticized-for-non-mainstream-view-idUSL2N0HD15W20130919\">\r\nhe said that out loud back in 2013<\/a>.\r\n<p>\r\nNonetheless, &ldquo;solar will overtake everything,&rdquo;,\r\nas former FERC Chair Jon Wellinghoff said <a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/08\/solar-will-overtake-everything-ferc-chair-jon-wellinghof.html\">also in 2013<\/a>.\r\nThe prediction he made (and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/08\/solar-power-will-win-like-the-internet-did.html\">I made just before him<\/a>)\r\nthat solar power will provide more U.S. electricity than any other source by 2023\r\nis still on track, according to FERC&#8217;s own figures.\r\nYes, despite the recent back-peddling of the U.S. government.\r\n<p style=\"text-align:center;font-size:80%;font-style:italic\">\r\n<a title=\"FERC 2012 power source gigawatts and growth rates projected 20 years\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/98706376@N00\/8421700685\/\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border:none;\" class=\"at-xid-6a0120a58214e4970b017ee7f5d888970d\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/6a0120a58214e4970b017ee7f5d888970d-pi.jpg\"  alt=\"FERC 2012 power source gigawatts and growth rates projected 20 years\"  \/><\/a>\r\n<\/p>\r\n<P>\r\nSlide 13 on LNG Economics honestly lists first among Supply-Side Factors, Production amounts.\r\nThat&#8217;s the glut of gas from fracking that is really driving this LNG export craze.\r\nIt also lists Storage Levels, which is also a glut of gas.\r\n<p style=\"text-align:center;font-size:80%;font-style:italic\">\r\n<a title=\"LNG Economics\" name=\"Where:LNG-Economics\" href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/govt\/phmsa\/2018-05-16--phmsa-lng-safety\/day-1-pm-2-0013.html\"><img decoding=\"async\"  border=0 capacity&rdquo; without government assurances, said\r\nUniper SE Chief Executive Officer Klaus Schaefer in Berlin this\r\nweek&#8230;.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nPower companies need to come up with new ways to ensure electricity\r\nas coal plants retire and more consumers adopt energy storage to\r\nbalance against volatile wind and solar generation&#8230;.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nAs Merkel&#8217;s new coalition has pledged a speedier switch to wind and\r\nsolar, pushing the share of clean power to 65 percent of total\r\ngeneration by 2030, some utilities have been left wondering whether\r\ngas will be needed at all&#8230;.\r\n<p>\r\n&ldquo;Our view is we should carefully review whether it makes sense\r\nat all to phase out coal very fast, replace it by gas and then you\r\nhave stranded gas investments after 10 years,&rdquo; RWE Chief\r\nFinancial Officer Markus Krebber said in an interview with Bloomberg\r\nNews in June. &ldquo;The future should be renewables and storage.\r\nWe&#8217;re also preparing for that.&rdquo;\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nGermany isn&#8217;t even listed on slide 10:\r\n<p style=\"text-align:center;font-size:80%;font-style:italic\">\r\n<a title=\"LNG assets.\r\n<p>\r\nPlus look at the &#8220;Top 5 Countries Exporting LNG&#8221; on that slide.\r\nWhy should the U.S. turn itself into a developing country,\r\nexporting raw materials?\r\n<p>\r\nHave you ever heard of solar panels leaking or exploding?\r\n<p>\r\nWhy should we take any risk for the dying industry of natural gas?\r\n<p>\r\nSlide 21 claims &#8220;Alaska and Florida LNG Training completed&#8221;.\r\n<p style=\"text-align:center;font-size:80%;font-style:italic\">\r\n<a title=\"LNG Emergency Response\" name=\"Emergency:LNG-Emergency-Response\" methane profit through LNG export to other countries,\r\nfor the profit of fossil fuel company executives and shareholders\r\nat our expense?\r\n<p>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2011\/04\/id-put-my-money-on-the-sun-and-solar-energy-thomas-alva-edison.html\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Thomas Alva Edison\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" src=\"http:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/thumb\/c\/ce\/Ford_Edison_Firestone1.jpg\/180px-Ford_Edison_Firestone1.jpg\"><\/a>\r\nAs Thomas Edison said 82 years ago:\r\n<blockquote style=\"font-size:100%\">\r\n<p>\r\nWe are like tenant farmers chopping down the fence around our house\r\nfor fuel when we should be using Nature&#8217;s inexhaustible sources of\r\nenergy &mdash; sun, wind and tide. &#8230; I&#8217;d put my money on the sun\r\nand solar energy. What a source of power!
