\r\nNothing is on\r\n\r\nthe agenda<\/a>\r\nabout the recent major spill at the Withlacoochee Wastewater Treatment Plant<\/a> for tonight’s Valdosta City Council meeting.\r\n

\r\nHowever, there are three other sewage-related Utility Department items:\r\nbids for\r\n\r\nten emergency standby generators<\/a> and for\r\n\r\n\r\nwater treatment chemicals<\/a>, and\r\n\r\nConsideration of a request to purchase a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for Lift Stations and Water Treatment Plants.<\/a>\r\n

\r\nThose are all good steps, so lift stations won’t fail due to lack of power,\r\nso Valdosta Utilities can know what’s going on in real time (SCADA),\r\nand so they can continue testing.\r\n

\r\nMaybe you’d like to come compliment Valdosta on that much\r\nand ask them what they’re doing to prevent WWTP spills,\r\nin\r\n\r\nCitizens to be Heard<\/a>.\r\n
