I represent the applicant.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/98706376@N00\/5710648677\/in\/set-72157626699360012\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\"   src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2033\/5710648677_6e4f18fed1_m.jpg\"><\/a><br \/>\nAssuming that Commissioners<br \/>\nshould just know who he is may not sound like a good start,<br \/>\nBut, as he already said, nobody was speaking against this rezoning.<br \/>\nWhy is that?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nI would like to note when the applicant first submitted this application,<br \/>\nit was submitted as planned development,<br \/>\nand worked with Mr. Davenport,<br \/>\nwe did tweak the site plan somewhat, made larger lots, and now it&#8217;s R-10.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/98706376@N00\/5710649177\/in\/set-72157626699360012\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\"   src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2661\/5710649177_3112e4df5f_m.jpg\"><\/a><br \/>\nAnd that&#8217;s what the opponents of the Glen Laurel rezoning asked for.<br \/>\nAt least a couple of them were present this time.<br \/>\nGretchen talked to them later, and they told her that since<br \/>\nthis subdivision had what they asked for last time,<br \/>\nthey had no objections this time.<\/p>\n<p>\nBill Nijem even discussed traffic and accidents, which you may recall<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nlast time the opponents discussed at length, but the proponents<br \/>\nhardly mentioned, and the Commission dismissed out of hand.<br \/>\nMaybe there&#8217;s some improvement.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe Planning Commission thought so. They passed this one 8 to 0.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/98706376@N00\/5710649603\/in\/set-72157626699360012\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\"   src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2152\/5710649603_cf42684971_m.jpg\"><\/a><br \/>\nThe Commmissioner for the relevant district, Richard Raines, pointed out the Technical Review Committee (TRC)<br \/>\nand the Planning Commission recommended two conditions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>All lots shall front interior roads.\n<li>Access onto Sara Road will require Sara Road to be paved<br \/>\nto Bemiss Road.<br \/>\nThe developer shall be responsible for the design,<br \/>\nany acquisition of necessary right-of-way,<br \/>\nrelocation of utilities, and construction costs.\n<\/ol>\n<p>Bill Nijem accepted both with no hestitation.<\/p>\n<p>\nRaines moved to approve with those conditions,<br \/>\nCommissioner Crawford Powell seconded,<br \/>\nand Commissioner Joyce Evans joined them a unanimous vote to rezone.<\/p>\n<p>\nQuite a contrast between<br \/>\n<a href=\"\/blog\/category\/glen-laurel\"><br \/>\na year ago<\/a> and this time.<br \/>\nWhen the county government listens to concerns of its citizens,<br \/>\nthings go a lot more smoothly.<br \/>\nMaybe everyone learned something last time.<\/p>\n<p>\nHere&#8217;s<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=PSmrECK2Po4\"><br \/>\nthe video:<\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" width=\"480\" height=\"390\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/PSmrECK2Po4\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<br \/>\n<small><br \/>\nRezoning on Old Pine Road again: is anything different this time?<br \/>\n<br \/>\nREZ-2011-05 &#8211; Laurel Brooke, Old Pine Road,<br \/>\n<br \/>\nRegular meeting, Lowndes County Commission (LCC),<br \/>\n<br \/>\nValdosta, Lowndes County, Georgia, 10 May 2011.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nVideos and pictures by Gretchen Quarterman and John S.
