I represent the applicant.\n<\/blockquote>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/98706376@N00\/5710648677\/in\/set-72157626699360012\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\"   src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2033\/5710648677_6e4f18fed1_m.jpg\"><\/a>\nAssuming that Commissioners\nshould just know who he is may not sound like a good start,\nBut, as he already said, nobody was speaking against this rezoning.\nWhy is that?\n<p>\n<blockquote>\nI would like to note when the applicant first submitted this application,\nit was submitted as planned development,\nand worked with Mr. Davenport,\nwe did tweak the site plan somewhat, made larger lots, and now it&#8217;s R-10.\n<\/blockquote>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/98706376@N00\/5710649177\/in\/set-72157626699360012\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\"   src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2661\/5710649177_3112e4df5f_m.jpg\"><\/a>\nAnd that&#8217;s what the opponents of the Glen Laurel rezoning asked for.\nAt least a couple of them were present this time.\nGretchen talked to them later, and they told her that since\nthis subdivision had what they asked for last time,\nthey had no objections this time.\n<p>\nBill Nijem even discussed traffic and accidents, which you may recall\n\n<!--more-->\nlast time the opponents discussed at length, but the proponents\nhardly mentioned, and the Commission dismissed out of hand.\nMaybe there&#8217;s some improvement.\n<p>\nThe Planning Commission thought so. They passed this one 8 to 0.\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/98706376@N00\/5710649603\/in\/set-72157626699360012\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\"   src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2152\/5710649603_cf42684971_m.jpg\"><\/a>\nThe Commmissioner for the relevant district, Richard Raines, pointed out the Technical Review Committee (TRC)\nand the Planning Commission recommended two conditions:\n<ol>\n<li>All lots shall front interior roads.\n<li>Access onto Sara Road will require Sara Road to be paved\nto Bemiss Road.\nThe developer shall be responsible for the design,\nany acquisition of necessary right-of-way,\nrelocation of utilities, and construction costs.\n<\/ol>\nBill Nijem accepted both with no hestitation.\n<p>\nRaines moved to approve with those conditions,\nCommissioner Crawford Powell seconded,\nand Commissioner Joyce Evans joined them a unanimous vote to rezone.\n<p>\nQuite a contrast between\n<a href=\"\/blog\/category\/glen-laurel\">\na year ago<\/a> and this time.\nWhen the county government listens to concerns of its citizens,\nthings go a lot more smoothly.\nMaybe everyone learned something last time.\n<p>\nHere&#8217;s\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=PSmrECK2Po4\">\nthe video:<\/a>\n<p align=\"center\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" width=\"480\" height=\"390\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/PSmrECK2Po4\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<br>\n<small>\nRezoning on Old Pine Road again: is anything different this time?\n<br>\nREZ-2011-05 &#8211; Laurel Brooke, Old Pine Road,\n<br>\nRegular meeting, Lowndes County Commission (LCC),\n<br>\nValdosta, Lowndes County, Georgia, 10 May 2011.\n<br>\nVideos and pictures by Gretchen Quarterman and John S.
