{"id":2032,"date":"2011-05-15T12:00:41","date_gmt":"2011-05-15T16:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2011\/05\/come-back-and-expand-on-this-one-valdosta-mayor-john-fretti.html"},"modified":"2011-05-15T12:00:41","modified_gmt":"2011-05-15T16:00:41","slug":"come-back-and-expand-on-this-one-valdosta-mayor-john-fretti","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2011\/05\/come-back-and-expand-on-this-one-valdosta-mayor-john-fretti.html","title":{"rendered":"Come back and expand on this one &mdash;Valdosta Mayor John Fretti"},"content":{"rendered":"<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=iBmnVOPBuFkh\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\"   src=\"http:\/\/i2.ytimg.com\/vi\/iBmnVOPBuFk\/default.jpg\"><\/a>\nYes, let&#8217;s celebrate Hannah Solar and this solar array!\nBut why do people have to keep gilding the lily and\nclaiming it&#8217;s the largest in the state when\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/02\/mayor-fretti-at-wiregrass-solar-llc-groundbreaking.html\">\nit wasn&#8217;t even back at groundbreaking?<\/a>\nSo if Valdosta Mayor John Fretti and County Commissioner Crawford Powell have agreed to expand this solar array\nif somebody leapfrogs it, time to get cracking!\nIt was already leapfrogged before it was built.\n<p>\nAfter lauding his class of Leadership Lowndes over others,\nMayor Fretti complimented various local organizations and said:\n<blockquote>\n&#8230;not only that it has a good quality of life,\nit has the infrastructure that is needed for industrial recruitment,\nbut that you will be successful when you locate in Valdosta-Lowndes County,\nand I think Hannah Solar is evidence of that.\n<\/blockquote>\nAll true, and note which comes first: &#8220;a good quality of life.&#8221;\n<p>\nMayor Fretti quoted the first law of thermodynamics\n(conservation and conservation of energy) and remarked:\n<blockquote>\nBut now we have some energy sources in our area that we can take advantage of.\nUnfortunately we don&#8217;t have an ocean for tidal power.\nUnfortunately we don&#8217;t have geothermal as much as other areas of the country.\n<p>\nWe do have sunlight.\nCertainly not as much as some areas of the country,\nbut we have an abundance enough that we could put out\nwhat is currently the largest array in the state of Georgia.\n<\/blockquote>\nThat&#8217;s all good stuff, except this wasn&#8217;t the biggest solar array\nin the state even\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/02\/mayor-fretti-at-wiregrass-solar-llc-groundbreaking.html\">\nthe last time Mayor Fretti stood on the same spot and said the same thing.<\/a>\n<p>\nMaybe he (and everyone) should double-check what VLCIA tells him.\n<p>\nBrad Lofton knew\n\n<!--more-->\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/02\/brad-loftons-memory-fails-him-again-and-again.html\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\"   src=\"http:\/\/i2.ytimg.com\/vi\/EcDvipyyrTA\/default.jpg\"><\/a>\nabout the larger solar array in Dalton, Georgia back in January,\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/01\/once-again-you-ignore-suggestions-john-s-quarterman.html\">\nbecause I told him.<\/a>\nLofton was still going around bragging about it\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/02\/brad-loftons-memory-fails-him-again-and-again.html\">\nin February.<\/a>\nApparently Col. Ricketts hasn&#8217;t bothered to tell Mayor Fretti\neven though Lofton is gone.\n<blockquote>\nAnd, truthfully, I think Crawford and I have talked,\nif somebody makes a larger array,\nwe hope to come back and expand on this one,\nbecause we&#8217;re a little competitive and we like to be the largest in Valdosta.\n<\/blockquote>\nTime to get cracking on making the local solar array larger!\n<blockquote>\nBut we can convert to solar into an alternative energy source\nand put it on the grid\nfor our electric utilities to have a choice, a better choice\nfor alternative electricity.\n<p>\nWe don&#8217;t have a river next to us either for hydroelectric,\nso we use what we have.\nAnd as Mr. Copeland said,\nperhaps we can figure out how to convert these gnats into energy;\nwe have a lot of those.\n<p>\nWe&#8217;re proud that our area was the first are to recognize this,\nto recognize that Hannah Solar had a product that would work here,\nand\nto brag that we are the first and largest solar array in the state of Georgia.\n<\/blockquote>\nIt may be the first large array Hannah Solar has done,\nbut I heard Pete Marte of Hannah Solar having to correct\nwhat WCTV wrote down that Mayor Fretti said about this\nbeing the largest array in the state.\nEverybody knows that&#8217;s not true, except people who believe\nwhat VLCIA tells them.\n<blockquote>\nIt looks and appears like it&#8217;s a win for everyone, and we&#8217;re glad for that.\n<\/blockquote>\nYes, it is a win for everyone.\nAnd we should celebrate that.\n<p>\nBut why make everyone look like doofuses by repeating something that\nwasn&#8217;t true months ago?\n<p>\nHere&#8217;s\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=iBmnVOPBuFkh\">\nthe video:<\/a>\n<p align=\"center\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"349\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/iBmnVOPBuFk\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<br>\n<small>\ncome back and expand on this one &mdash;Valdosta Mayor John Fretti\n<br>\nCommissioning Ceremony,\n<br>\nWiregrass Solar, Valdosta-Lowndes County Industrial Authority (VLCIA),\n<br>\nValdosta, Lowndes County, Georgia, 12 May 2011.\n<br>\nVideos by John S.
