\n\n<\/a>\nMAGE SOLAR, looking for both customers and installers, is hosting a\nprogram at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Albany Civic Center.\n

\nSusanne Fischer Quinn, communications manager for MAGE SOLAR, said there\nare just 13 certified installers of solar panels in Georgia.\n

\nThe opportunity for growth in this area is tremendous, she said.\nTuesday\u2019s program will open with remarks by Jeff Sinyard, chairman\nof the Dougherty County Commission, and Albany City Commissioner Roger\nMarietta\n

\nThen, a panel of representatives from MAGE, the U.S. Department of\nAgriculture and the University of Georgia will present information about\nsolar power in Georgia.\n<\/blockquote>\nWe already did a smaller version of this, but what have we done since?\n\n\n\n<\/a>\nThis is somewhat like the\n\nevent Jerome Tucker organized with MAGE SOLAR at Lowndes High<\/a>\nbut more so, since I don’t recall Ashley Paulk or Mayor Fretti\nspeaking at LHS.\n

\nGeorgia is considered one of the best states for solar power because of\nits abundant sunshine.\n

\nThen, a 30-minute question-and-answer session is planned with panelists\nanswering questions about both the educational and business components\nof solar power.\n

\nThe evening will close with a \u201cmix and mingle\u201d where those interested\nin having solar power in their homes or businesses or those interested\nin becoming certified installers can gain additional information.\n<\/blockquote>\nThat also happened at LHS (video to come).\nIt’s also the kind of thing I think our local Chamber of Commerce\nmay be organizing ongoing through its\n\nRenewable Energy Network.<\/a>\n

\nMeanwhile, the Albany event already happened yesterday,\nas Terry Lewis wrote for the Albany Herald today,\n\nSolar power touted:\nThe president of Mage Solar USA urges consumers to become generators of power.<\/a>\nGo Joe Thomas!\nYes, consumers can become generators of electricity.\nThen they’re not just consumers anymore, are they?\nThey’re participants:\n

\nJoe Thomas, president of Mage Solar USA, one of the country\u2019s top\nmanufacturers and distributors of renewable energy products, urged a\npacked house at the Albany Civic Center Tuesday that now is the time to\ncatch up with Europe and begin moving toward solar power.\n

\n“Now is the time to begin thinking about getting off the grid and\nbecoming generators of power rather than just consumers,” Thomas said\nduring a solar power discussion group at the arena. “Yes, the upfront\ncosts are steep, and it takes an average of around 10 years to see the\nreturn on your investment.
