\r\nZBOA Chairman Allan Strickland was not present, so Mac McCall chaired.\r\nHowever, for this first case\r\n\r\nhe recused himself, and Gretchen Quarterman chaired<\/a>.\r\nStaff Tracy Tolley suggested tabling to get more information.\r\n\r\nNathaniel Brantley moved to approve citing\r\n\r\n “the City of Valdosta’s LDR version of criteria”<\/a>, and John Hogan seconded.\r\nThose two and Victoria Copeland voted for.\r\nPaul Alvarado and Nancy Hobby voted against.\r\nMotion passed 3:2.\r\n

\r\n\r\nDeep South Sanitation (DSS) of Tucker Road<\/a>\r\napparently has been using a neighboring\r\nlot as a staging area for trash trucks without permit approval,\r\nand there’s a complaint by Steve Edwards of Evergreen Landfill.\r\nStaff recommended approving DSS’s variance with conditions.\r\n

\r\nMac McCall\r\n\r\nresumed chairing the meeting for this item<\/a>.\r\nAfter almost an hour of discussion,\r\n\r\nGretchen Quarterman made a motion<\/a> to approve the variance with\r\nthe conditions provided by staff<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nCity Planner Matt Martin said he wanted to separate out the use conditions.\r\nShe modified the motion to do that by selecting conditions,\r\nsuch as to make the fence be correct,\r\nbut not condition number six (conditional use expires if business permits do).\r\nShe noted that condition number 1 says for this business only,\r\nnot for any other such business.\r\nThe maximum number 10 of trucks came up repeatedly; it’s in condition number 4.\r\nJohn Hogan seconded the motion.\r\nShe, he, Nathaniel Brantley, Paul Alvarado, and Victoria Copeland voted for.\r\nNancy Hobby voted against.\r\nMotion passed 5:1.\r\n
