\nSir,\n

\nI hope your day is going well. I’m spending half this afternoon with the\ndentist getting a permanent crown installed and the other half with my\nwife’s kidney doctor. Life must truck on regardless of the Foxborough\nMcDonalds issue.\n

\n\n<\/a>\nSir, twice I made statements to you in regards to County Engineer,\nMr. Mike Fletcher. I now wish to present my position in writing. My\nfirst statement was during our first phone conversation on 18 May\n2011. During that conversation I rather colorfully stated\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n

\nthat it\n\n<\/a>\nwas my opinion that Mr. Fletcher misrepresented to the Lowndes County\nBoard of Commissioners and the citizens in attendance of the Lowndes\nCounty Board Of Commissioners Work Session of Monday, July 12, 2010,\nthe preliminary plan for ingress and egress of the Foxborough Subdivision\nMcDonalds. Mr. Fletcher stated to the board that the ingress and egress\nof the Foxborough Subdivision McDonalds would be off of Foxborough\nBoulevard. This statement would lead all to conclude that the McDonalds\nwould not be built where it is currently being built, but instead on\nthe other side of Mom and Dad’s Italian restaurant.\n

\n\n<\/a>\nAt the time of\nthis meeting, not many people to include at least one Lowndes County\nCommissioner knew much of the proposed Foxborough Subdivision McDonalds.\nThe preliminary plan\nto my knowledge and the data I’d collected at the time though did\nnot include nor mention Foxborough Boulevard. Therefore, I believe\nMr. Fletcher, who was one of a handful of people that was in the know\nof the proposed Foxborough Subdivision McDonalds at the time, through\nmisrepresentation effectively deflated before the board and the citizens\nin attendance my objection to the Foxborough Subdivision McDonalds.\n

\nThe second reference I made concerning County Engineer Mr. Mike Fletcher\nis closely associated with the first. In\n\nan email I sent you on 25 May 2011<\/a>\nI stated:\n

\n\n<\/a>\n“Nearly a year ago I made this argument (referring to the\ningress and egress of the Foxborough McDonalds) before the Lowndes County\nBoard of Commissioners and Commissioner Lee directed the County Engineer,\nMr. Mike Fletcher to look into it. I never received an answer from\nCommissioner Lee or Mr. Fletcher.”\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<\/a>\nI believe that the reason my argument\nwas not correctly answered is because of Mr. Fletcher’s misrepresentation\nof the ingress and egress of the Foxborough Subdivision McDonalds before\nthe Board of Commissioners. I believe his statement effectively closed\nthe issue, therefore it was not necessary to provide me an answer,\nor a correct answer.\n

\nTherefore, it is my wish that Lowndes County takes under consideration\nan examination\/reexamination of all aspects concerning the ingress and\negress of the Foxborough Subdivision McDonalds to include all road\/street\ndesignation and permissible usage as criteria, projected traffic pattern\nsurveys, distances between ingress\/egress points and points of possible\ncontention such as with its residential neighbors and highway 41 (North\nValdosta Rd.), etc….\n

\nVince Schneider, 4608 Foxborough Avenue, addressed the Commission\nregarding his concerns surrounding plans for a new McDonald\u2019s to\nbe located at the entrance to Foxborough subdivision. Mr. Schneider\nstated that he understood the property was zoned prior to homes\nbeing built and requested that the Commission consider rezoning the\nproperty. Mr. Schneider also expressed concerns related to noise, traffic\nand infrastructure. Commissioner Lee asked County Engineer, Mike Fletcher,\nto address the site plan for the development. Mr. Fletcher stated that the\npreliminary plan indicates ingress and egress off of Foxborough Boulevard\nand North Valdosta Road. Commissioner Lee asked Mr. Fletcher to verify\nthat the road could handle possible heavy truck traffic. Chairman Paulk\nasked if the necessary easements were preexisting, to which Mr. Fletcher\nreplied yes. Chairman Paulk thanked Mr. Schneider for bringing his\nconcerns before the Commission, adding that the Commission could not\n\n<\/a>\nrezone the property; however, staff would ensure that all regulations\nwere followed in accordance with existing ordinances.\n<\/blockquote>\nHere’s what\n\nthe VDT and I wrote about it the next day.<\/a>\n
