\r\nAlready heard about last night on facebook,\r\na chemical leak on Clay Rosd at Howell Road is\r\nnext to the Lowndes County Schools Transportation Department.\r\nWere all those school buses affected?\r\n

\r\nValdosta Daily Times, 3 November 2017,\r\n\r\nChemical leak reported off Clay Road<\/a>,\r\n

\r\n

\r\nVALDOSTA — Lowndes County officials said late Friday a\r\npossible chemical leak located in the vicinity of Clay Road resulted\r\nin temporary road closures.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nSheriff Ashley Paulk said \r\n\r\nLowndes County deputies, city police and\r\nfire department personnel responded to the scene but had not located\r\nthe source of the odor that had caused concern.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nPaulk said his department had ruled out a meth lab explosion but\r\ninvestigators were continuing to search for the cause around\r\nmidnight. The sheriff said gases in the air had dissipated, adding\r\nthat first responders had been exposed but no injuries were\r\nreported.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nCounty Clerk Paige Dukes, the county’s public information officer,\r\nsaid calls came in to the county 911 Center beginning around 7:10\r\np.m. regarding what she called “an unidentifiable odor in the area\r\nof Clay and Howell Roads.”\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nDukes said Lowndes County Emergency Management Director Ashley Tye\r\nand multiple public safety agencies are conducting an investigation\r\nand in the meantime residents in the area are being asked to remain\r\ninside their homes with doors and windows closed.\r\n<\/p>\r\n
