\nEyder Peralta wrote for NPR yesterday,\n\nReport: U.S. Drug War Spending Is Unjustifiable<\/a>\n

\n\n<\/a>\nSen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) said that after a year-long investigation\nby a Senate subcommittee, “it’s becoming increasingly clear that our\nefforts to rein in the narcotics trade in Latin America, especially as\nit relates to the government’s use of contractors, have largely failed.”\n

\nThe report comes a week after a high-powered commission of former\nworld leaders came to the conclusion that the global war on drugs had\n“failed.” Mark wrote about that report, last week.\n<\/blockquote>\nThat would be \nReport of the Global Commission on Drug Policy<\/a>\nthat recommended start legalizing drugs with marijuana?\n

\nAnd what happens to\n\nwhat little there is of a business plan<\/a>\nfor private prisons when the U.S. and Georgia wise up and legalize\nmarijuana and other drugs?\n

\nWe don’t need another\n\nbad business boondoggle<\/a>\nin Lowndes County.\nSpend that tax money\n\non education instead.<\/a>\n
