\nEven in counties where the percentage of children grew, only 49 gained\nmore than 1 percentage point \u2014 many of them suburbs on the outer edge\nof metropolitan areas such as Forsyth, Whitfield and Newton outside\nAtlanta and Cabarrus and Union outside Charlotte.\n<\/blockquote>\nSo that makes Lanier County one of only 49\n\n\n

\n\nLowndes\n<\/small>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\nof the 3,140 counties in the entire country\nthat grew more than 1% in children: 30 times more!\n

\nAnd no, it’s not hispanics: Lanier County has\n\nfewer hispanics<\/a>\nthan\n\nLowndes County<\/a>,\nas well as fewer blacks,\nand Lanier is also whiter than the Georgia average.\n

\n\nBright flight from Lowndes County<\/a> has already begun,\nand CUEE’s school unification plan would only accelerate it.\n

\nHow about instead we come up with a plan to improve education?\n
