Stone Ave., in the\nAmethyst Room from 6 to 8 p.m., moderated by yours truly, Mari Herreras.\n<p>\nThe public is invited to present testimony, but the AFSC has also invited\nrepresentatives from the Arizona Department of Corrections, Corrections\nCorporation of America (expected to build a new prison in Tucson) and\nManagement and Training Corporation (which manages the Marana Community\nCorrectional Treatment Facility). Word is no one has responded from those\norganizations, but AFSC organizers know the following presenters will\nbe there to provide critical information on the private prison industry:\nStephen Nathan, editor of Prison Privatization Report International; Joe\nGlen, spokesman for Maricopa and Pima Juvenile Corrections Associations;\nBrent White, UA law professor; Jim Sanders, real estate appraiser; Susan\nMaurer, retired corrections commissioner from New Jersey; and Victoria\nLopez, from ACLU of Arizona.\n<p>\nThe hearing will include the following community leaders who will hear\ntestimony and ask questions: Pima County Supervisor Richard Elias;\nTucson City Councilman Steve Kozachik; Assistant Tucson City Manager\nRichard Miranda; Representative Phil Lopes; and Mark Kimble, former\nassociate editor of the Tucson Citizen.\n<\/blockquote>\nThey even made sure both the basic positions and the actual\ndebate would be recorded:\n\n<!--more-->\n<blockquote>\nIf you plan to attend and present testimony be sure to bring a copy\nof your remarks to enter into the record.
