Quarterman @ VLCIA 14 June 2011"},"content":{"rendered":"<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=358fkAwneKA\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\"   src=\"http:\/\/i4.ytimg.com\/vi\/358fkAwneKA\/default.jpg\"><\/a>\nNoting that I was there on behalf of the Lowndes Area Knowledge Exchange (LAKE),\nwhich takes these videos and puts them on the web,\nI recommended to the Industrial Authority board that they\nput their agendas on the web,\nsince they give those away at the door\nand they don&#8217;t contain any of the details that they&#8217;re concerned\nabout revealing to competitors.\n<p>\nRecalling that I had previously had the audacity to\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/02\/authority-should-listen-to-other-sources-john-s-quarterman.html\">\nread their own charter to them,<\/a>\nor at least the parts about the general good and welfare of the community,\nI reminded them that some areas that had successfully attracted industry,\nsuch as Raleigh, NC, Austin, TX, and Portland, OR had said what kinds of\nindustry they wanted.\nExpanding on the example of Austin, TX, I noted that they emphasized\nclean industry, music, and arts, and that helped attract the kinds\nof knowledge-based workers that our local Chamber of Commerce wants\nfor knowledge-based jobs.\n<p>\nThen I noted that I had\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/06\/when-will-the-wiregrass-solar-plant-be-expanded-john-s-quarterman-vcc-9-june-2011.html\">\ncomplimented Mayor Fretti\n\n<!--more-->\nat the recent Valdosta\nCity Council meeting<\/a> for saying he and Commissioner Powell wanted to\nbe competitive and expand the Wiregrass Solar plant.\nI added that that would be a good way to emphasize that this area\nis for clean renewable energy.\n<p>\nHere&#8217;s\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=358fkAwneKA\">\nthe video:<\/a>\n<p align=\"center\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" width=\"480\" height=\"390\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/358fkAwneKA\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<br>\n<small>\nTransparency and leadership for the local good &mdash;John S.
