\r\nRummaging around in the\r\nagenda sheet<\/a>\r\nfor\r\n\r\n6.a. Adoption of Millage<\/a> on the 5:30 PM Regular Session agenda,\r\nwe find:\r\n\r\n\r\n

\r\n

\r\nThe Board of Commissioners is required to set the county-wide\r\nmillage for 2017. A public hearing was held prior to this adoption\r\nas required. The county-wide millage should be set at 11.224 mills\r\nwith the County receiving 8.974 mills, the industrial Authority\r\nreceiving 1.00 mill and the Parks and Recreation Authority receiving\r\n1.25 mills.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nBy “was held prior” they mean this 5PM Millage Rate Meeting.\r\n

\r\nThey don’t say whether the millage is going up or down.\r\nIt’s actually the same as last year<\/a>, when they raised it, after decreasing it the previous year.\r\n

\r\nLast year they spent 16 seconds<\/a> on it in their Work Session,\r\na few people\r\n\r\nactually did show up and ask questions<\/a>\r\nat the Tuesday 5PM Millage Meeting,\r\nand \r\n\r\nthey spent 59 seconds on it<\/a> in their Regular Session, in which:\r\n

\r\nCommissioner Mark Wisenbaker wanted to be sure of the millage\r\namount. Chairman Bill Slaughter did not ask for votes against, and\r\nthen said he wanted the record to show the Chairman voted for as\r\nwell. I thought the Chairman could only vote if there was a tie.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n
